Looks like we have a new Director of Football Recruiting Operations. https://x.com/ellecherry11

Don't know anything about her, other than she appears to have been a former Texas High School football reporter and is local.

Edit: She does seem to know a lot of the local coaches. Probably from her reporter days, local connections is very good.

We offered Jaylon Griffin, a WR from Kilgore JC (originally Huntsville HS) and then UCF for three years. Was at Tulane for a masters program there, but probably didn’t like the coaching change? Seems to be high on Rice.

He was a 4 star coming out of high school and an AP Scholar. Had some injures as well as some 5 star OLs in front of him so didn't play very much for Georgia but has a ton of potential IMO. Sounds like a pretty good fit to me if he wants to play close to home for a final season.

Hope we are trying to convince him to come to Rice.

"What are you most lookin forward to as a college player?" "Playing in front of 100,000 people." hahaha

Are the Owls playing in College Station next season? 03-confused

Ha! Latching on to the statement he made coming out of high school. But consider:
1. He has now done that at Georgia over the past 4 years.
2. He has a national championship ring.
3. He was projected as a backup at Georgia.
4. He wants more of an opportunity to start and feels he can do that at Rice.
5. He wants to be closer to home as he closes out his collegiate career.

I have welcomed him to Rice on his X page (Twitter). Hope to see more Rice fans welcome him. Here is the link:

Win Win -- smart choice for him and great for us!
