Offensive Lineman from University of Georgia in the portal as a grad transfer. He is from League City and played high school at Clear Creek. He was a 4 star coming out of high school and an AP Scholar. Had some injures as well as some 5 star OLs in front of him so didn't play very much for Georgia but has a ton of potential IMO. Sounds like a pretty good fit to me if he wants to play close to home for a final season.

Hope we are trying to convince him to come to Rice.

D’andre Hardeman, Jr., a running back from North Shore becomes our second class of 2025 commitment. He ran for 1584 yards and 21 touchdowns his junior season as North Shore lost to Duncanville in the 6A title game.

He said 4 years ago. As I stated, due to injuries and 5 star player ahead of him, he did not get much playing time. Glad he is coming to Rice and hopefully you will join me in welcoming him!

RE: Rice football recruiting - class of 2024
I kind of wonder what the OL looks like now for 2024. We now have four returning starters and two significant transfers. The young guys probably have to wait their turn a bit longer now. But personally, I’d like to see a different center if one of the guards or tackles can handle that position.

A couple other links about him:

Georgia roster bio: https://georgiadogs.com/sports/football/...dberg/8106

USA Today article on his transfer to Rice: https://ugawire.usatoday.com/2024/04/16/...berg-rice/

USA TODAY Wrote:... a graduate transfer ... He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Lindberg did not participate in spring practice for Georgia. ... Lindberg was previously projected as Georgia’s back-up right tackle for the fall.

Lindberg should start immediately at Rice.

Coming to Rice a real student athlete already with MBA. Probably for the international business school. Lots of experience on OL now. Biggest and tallest players I think we have ever had. Hopefully Warner can just sit back and go through his progressions. RIP Pound the Rock.

Ha! Latching on to the statement he made coming out of high school. But consider:
1. He has now done that at Georgia over the past 4 years.
2. He has a national championship ring.
3. He was projected as a backup at Georgia.
4. He wants more of an opportunity to start and feels he can do that at Rice.
5. He wants to be closer to home as he closes out his collegiate career.

I have welcomed him to Rice on his X page (Twitter). Hope to see more Rice fans welcome him. Here is the link:

Yes he made a great choice coming to Rice. I guess he was tired of working his ass off at Georgia and sitting on the bench.

He did get playing time. Sitting on the bench implies he did not get time at all. But yes, I will agree that he wanted to be a starter, and thus wanted more playing time.

Rice football recruiting - class of 2024
Fact check: Rice played for a home crowd of well over 100,000 last season.

Our attendance at Rice Stadium totaled 143,794!

Yeah, he played in 12 games last year for Georgia. We just need to keep these high impact guys healthy through camp.

If he stays healthy enough to play in 8-10 games, he will play before that 100,000 fans at Rice.
