RE: EMU MBB Announcing
One thing I'm learning in my old age is that I prefer the RADIO feed of a basketball game over the TV audio of a televised (e.g., webcast) game. (BTW, this might be why we all like Fountain, Chad, and Tom - all did/doing radio).

Tom yesterday was impeccable calling the game. On radio the broadcaster can't ignore the game and get off on 30 second tangents (e.g., "motivation" and other baloney). Too easy for a crew doing a telecast to assume the viewer sees what is happening and doesn't need to be told. I see that ALL OVER (not just EMU games).

BUT, do we know who made the steal, block, etc.? Sometimes we do (e.g., if it is Emoni). If it is someone else do we? Maybe yes. Maybe no.

I may have indicated elsewhere, I consider TV/webcasts of BASKETBALL the worst in sports. I believe football and hockey are the best. NBA Summer League games are awful. They quickly disintegrate into a discussion about basketball.

I'm going to try watching the Wizards game today muted and turn on the broadcast. That will be a first for me.

RE: EMU MBB Announcing
Not specific to EMU. RE: Sideline reporters.

Last week I watched a Wizards' game. The sideline reporter put a mike in Porzingis' face at the end of the half or game, I forgot which. He was panting like a dog; could hardly speak. Sweating.

I thought to myself was that really necessary? Do we need in the NBA two studio hosts; two game announcers; one sideline reporter. The studio hosts talk half time analysis and then toss it to the sideline reporter for more analysis who tosses it to the broadcast team for more analysis. Overkill?

Of course, even worse, after the Boston or NYC Marathons, TV will put a mike in the face of a guy who ran a marathon in say 2:05 or 2:10. I'm sure he wants to be interviewed even before having his water or Gatorade.
