UIW got hosed by refs. But what else is new in Fargo.

Can't have all of the NDSU history be tarnished by an upstart, can we?

That was the worst call in the history of college football.

Commentators must not have heard the ref, call was a fumble recovered by the offense. ESPN never showed a long enough replay.

Don't you love how rushed that review was? My god... obvious fumble / recovery.... anything to protect Fargo (like they need the help, great program) ...they ran the clock on us for 30 seconds once, semifinal, under two minutes when we were driving... garbage

I don't know why anyone thinks NDSU needs to move FBS when they can just be handed National Titles at the FCS level...

They weren't handed the title. The call on the field was a fumble recovered by the offense. The player that recovered the ball was NDSU's #49. The announcers were spouting nonsense, as is typical for ESPN+.

I’m pretty sure the call on the field was the runner was down . Then review and confirmed which is ridiculous.

Their attendance has already been slipping the past few years. They used to reliably average 19k, the past couple of years they're averaging 15k.

FCS is depleted and is getting worse every realignment cycle. Eventually beating Stetson 63-0 in the FCS Natty in front of 3k fans for their 23rd straight title and NDSU fans will realize that playing in a bowl in Montgomery is superior to this.

Agreed. They just don’t see it that way yet.

All one has to do is ask JMU fans which theyd rather be in. Last year before the invite, almost ALL of them said they’d rather be in the fcs playoffs. Now ask them.

Yep, I thought I'd miss the playoffs but the pros would outweigh the cons going FBS. I don't miss them one bit. If you pop in the NDSU board you see some of their fans talk about how they want to play for a national championship instead of some toilet bowl and things like that. Reminds me of past years where App/Marshall/etc fans would try to tell us we won't miss a thing about FCS and a lot of us would disagree.

It's all great and fun, but you've just gotta experience both to realize how much less FCS means.

Ah, the old championshipsubdivision forum days. I remember when we were about to move up and I'd get taunted by GS, App (yes it happened...a lot) and other school's fans for us wanting to do so and all we'd miss out on. Then, when GS & App were about to make the move their tune was the same as yours, then it changed but, the CSD forum peeps still had the same attitude as that of which you speak.
We were not that great in FCS and we're still not very good but, I'd rather be "not quite there" in FBS than FCS.

Just wait until next year, Brother, and you're going to Myrtle Beach, or Boca Raton, FL, or Mobile in December and playing a football game. OR playing a P5 team in Annapolis or Texas.

When we played Ole Miss in 1997 (Motor City Bowl - Detroit, MI), it was so freaking awesome! It was better than the previous year's undefeated National Championship run.

In our first FBS season:

*We were down significantly to WVU only to come roaring back to take the lead in the 4th QTR, but couldn't hold on. That team had NFL players Mark Bulger, Amos Zereoue, Anthony Becht, Jerry Porter, Wes Ours, and Curtis Keaton.

*Defeated one of the most historic 1-A programs in Army where Randy Moss created his most well-known highlight clip (hurdling a would-be tackler)

*Won the division and the conference.

*Played an SEC team in our first bowl since the 1948 Tangerine Bowl (a 7-0 loss to Catawba because our coach Cam Henderson, chose to coach the basketball team instead) That game was back and forth until the Ole Miss scored with little time left.
Oh, by the way, that Ole Miss team had John Avery and Deuce McCallister.

So much better than 1-AA. We finished 10-3.
