RE: SFA regents vote to join the UT system
UT Stephen F. Austin is just too long. I'm gonna call it UT Austin.

Leave it to Rice fans to create some very intellectual jokes, love it!

If any Texas Politician tried to "erase" the names of Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston or Lamar, they won't be a Texas Politician long...

The UT System acquired four schools since 1965:
Arlington State became UT-Arlington.
Texas Western became UT-El Paso.
Graduate Research Center of the Southwest became UT-Dallas.
Texas Eastern became UT-Tyler.
See a pattern here?
None of them were named for the Father of Texas though. Who cares if Arlington St or Texas Eastern gets a new name, they were probably ecstatic to put UT in their new names. SFA will want to be SFA forever.

SFA isn't taking "Stephen F Austin" out of their name. Ever.

RE: SFA regents vote to join the UT system
Hard to believe the focus of this thread has become a NAME debate.
It is settled in the TEXAS Constitution (was already a state const. amendment) AND worded specifically in part of the deal with the UT system. TWO legal documents.
But "believe" what you will.
