At a much lower level, I have a friend who owns a now very large manufacturing business. Started it out of his garage in the mid-1980s. When he started growing, the industry leader offered to buy him out. My buddy thought it was an insult and told the guy to shove it and said within 5 years I’ll be buying you out. He got laughed at. Well, 5 years later he indeed bought them out and is now the biggest manufacturer in his industry in the United States.
