It's not like Elon is allowing Twitter to be the wild west. The content on Twitter hasn't changed much, if at all. He has simply allowed the other side to be heard, whereas they were previously shadow banned or outright banned simply for having differing opinions.

Those advocating for racism and violence are not going to be tolerated... as usual. So, what is the problem, really?

(Quick addition - those promoting anti-white racism are finally being booted, FWIW. There was no moderation of that under previous management.)

In my best captain obvious voice, the left is angry because

#1 - Conservatives are no longer being banned and shadow banned, they actually have the same voice and reach as liberals now

#2 - leftist and MSM political tweets are now being fact checked too

I don't hear #2 talked about much but its really pissing the media and the left off. Until now they were allowed to tweet anything and it never get questioned or fact checked.

Those on the right could post an actual FACT and even it would get attacked and "fact checked" by Twitter.

Authoritarians and some political groups want to control speech. And I'm not talking about illegal speech which has a long legal history and makes sense. Authoritarians and political groups want to control speech because speech has a lot to do with how we think. And what we think has a lot to do with what we believe. What we believe decides, for the most part, how we behave. I pretty much think that's the sum total of it.
