This may be a step UP for Jaheim. At least he didn't go to Wisconsin....

Bryant going to Northwestern.

Smart move. He already has an undergrad degree and an MBA from UC. He realizes he won't land an NFL job, and instead he's going to get a graduate degree from a top-10 school.

Is this a foregone conclusion? Sean Clifford just got drafted. I have a hard time believing he was much better than Ben.

Yeah I don't see this being a thing this year with a coaching staff that cares about winning.

I expect that they will coach all the QB's and if one doesn't produce they'll put anther one in.

No debate whatsoever...Prater isn't up to the challenge. Jones this year and hoping Drogosh or Lichtenberg can figure it out for next year.

I'm going to break Bear Catlett's heart, but if Prater is the guy we won't win 4 games. It'd be awesome.

I guess your short span of attention didn't last past a mere two posts prior.

I expect this staff to actually coach the QB's this year and if one doesn't produce, then the next one in line should be prepared to come in the game.

I also expect that they will have some RPO plays in the playbook and not just set a statue out there and hope that he decides to throw the ball before the rush gets there to sack him.

And since you sound like a guy with a lot of time on your hands, go back and rewatch the USF game and the Tulane game up to the point when the defense allowed them to walk down the field for the winning TD.

I have no idea.

However, if Bryant is truly an NFL-caliber QB, then Satterfield is insane to let him go. If you have that type of talent, you should build your playbook around the talent rather than go shopping for a project who is coming off an injury.

Except that Ben's injury limited him in practice so he never saw healthy Ben.

I really liked Ben and Ben loved UC so I wish him well. I also wonder if you had flipped the classes on Des/Ben and Ben had came in earlier if he wouldn't have had the same level of success with the 2020-21 teams rather than the 2022 team which didn't have the guys who'd been drafted off the 21 team and lost their best OL before the season started. I doubt Northwestern is going to give him a better chance than we had in 22 but I'll be pulling for him.

This doesn't give Des enough credit. Des was an elite college QB. There was enough here last year, that Ben had the opportunity to have a great season. Both Wide Receivers were drafted, a tight end was drafted, another was signed. His left tackle was signed. The running backs were solid. Guys ran wide open through a ton of secondaries last year. Ben just didn't process as quickly as Des did. When he got rolling, he could sling it, but he was less comfortable seeing the field and far less comfortable when pressured.

I think Ben got a bad rap from too many last year, but his flaws were real and he was in a pretty good situation.

Dude is comparing Sean Clifford, a 4 year starter at Penn State who lead them to an 11-2 record and winner of the Rose Bowl, to Ben Bryant. A mediocre MAC starter.

Haha from my Buckeye perspective I wish he stayed at Penn State until he was 26 instead of just 24. Sole reason in my opinion Penn State hasn’t been able to get over the hump. Talent is there mostly at all other positions. Mr. Interception! And the Penn State fans I know are glad he’s finally gone.

I was poking fun since you stated the Free Prater Fan Club during the first half of the Arkansas game.

Prater is still a long term project even on a good day.

To be fair, you could say the same thing about Ridder.

Ridder had NFL running backs & tight ends his whole time here. Warren/Doaks/Ford, Deguara/Whyle. Des's skill players were much more talented than the mediocre AAC competition we faced.

And one of the best defenses in the country to bail the QB out & give great field position.

I thought most of Ridder's improvement in his senior year was because of the surprising emergence of Alec Pierce as an NFL-caliber starting WR. Pierce seemed to catch anything thrown on his half of the field.
