UC's trajectory is up. We're going to the Big 12. You will be lucky to stay in CUSAAC, if you don't kicked out of it.

UC is going to become the new West Virginia as far as Big 12 fans and schools are concerned. That red headed stepchild that no one really wants around, doesn't add anything to the conversation, but they have to put up with anyway.

I would switch with them instantly as would any sane fan regardless of their status within the B12 you assign.

You missed my point completely. B12 won't treat UCF that same way, or even UH, because many of those schools have history with UH. Only Cincy is going to get the cold shoulder.

Not to rub salt in the wound but it isn't that easy to replace a great coach. Fickell caught lighting in a bottle. He knows that. Now, he's moving on to what he thinks is greener pastures like every other coach does. You are one bad hire from going back to what Cincinnati has always been.

Lmfao. Uc has 6 conference under 3 coaches since 2008 (2 each coach). "Always been" if you ignore the last decade and a half.

EDIT: it's actually 7 conference championships under 4 coaches since 2008. Even tuberville won one here.

Youre a really good friend.

Memphis has historically been really bad in football yet holds a 23-14 lead in the series. Let that sink in. Again, you are one bad hire away.

Ah yes, the All-Time Series argument. Cincinnati trails the all-time series in football with Dayton but haven’t heard many folks suggesting that the Bearcats, coming off a college football final four, are headed to the Pioneer League or whatever FCS Conference that Dayton plays in.

Your sidekick is trying to convince everyone how great Cincinnati football has been historically.

He clearly typed "since 2008". He knows UC football history.

And back to my original point, it’s not that easy replacing a great coach. And I think Finkell is a great coach.

What happened? Seriously. UC fans have been confident about him staying for years now.

In fairness he stuck around for 6 years which is longer than a coach in his position typically does but alas in the end money wins out. It always does.

You're right, but UC fans had me convinced he was staying except for the OSU job. They seem to have disappeared now.

I think I convinced you that. I was convinced myself.

You apparently missed the million or so times UC fans told us Fickell would only leave for Ohio State.

It's little man syndrome to an unbelievable degree. But take joy where you find it i guess

Oh bullsh!t. You guys brought this on by bragging about how Fickell would go nowhere but Ohio State.

Without question the timing sucks for UC but my personal thinking is Fickell truly wants to coach in the B1G - ideally Ohio State at some point - and decided to take this Wisconsin job as his initial foray into the B1G.

Fickell can simply shift to Ohio State in "x" years when it comes open...especially if he does a solid job at UW.

Wisconsin got a damn good coach. And I have little doubt Cincinnati will hire a damn good coach.

In the scheme of things the guy delivered the program a Big 12 invite leaving it better than he found it. That's about all you can ask. It maybe a good time for him personally and financially to move on. I'd thank him and get another coach. Just part of the cycle.07-coffee3

RE: Wisconsin targeting Luke Fickell to be next head coach
So, look... I'll just point out this:
Other programs WANT Luke Fickell and Willie Fritz.

Let that sink in a little bit.
OTHER.
PROGRAMS.
WANT.
LUKE.
FICKELL.

I didn't see all the Big Ten programs sniffing around Dana Holgerson or Phillip Montgomery. If we wanted "coaching stability" those would be our two next moves...somehow I don't see that happening. Some of the fans gloating the most over this are also fans of schools that probably will need TO PAY their current coaches to go away. Let that sink in a minute:
Some of you are going to have to pay your head coaches to go away.

Yeah, it doesn't sound so bad now, does it? Kind of like a certain Tulsa fan gloating that Cincy will "be in Myrtle" for the Bowl season...while his own school gets an early start on the winter holidays.

Coaching Apocalypse update

Four teams without coaches, another with a coach who barely beat a 1-11 team.

Not a great weekend for the OG AAC.
