BLACK OUT game for Southern Miss. The Rock is going to be rockin'! First time since 2019 we've been over .500. Administration is pushing this game hard. Discounted tickets for the public. Free tickets given out to faculty/staff. Campus is shut down for the day to allow for tailgating. Will be the biggest attended game thus far this season. I assume many UL fans will make the travel over.

Score prediction:

Louisiana 20
Southern Miss 24

Thoughts on the matchup?

I'm gonna guess and say the Vegas line comes out something like -1.5 in favor of USM. I do think Vegas is lagging behind the Cajuns a bit so I'd say Louisiana wins something like 21-14. I think Southern Miss will be hard pressed to get much going on offense. The Cajuns have one of the best defenses in the SBC. On the flip side, this USM defense is several tiers above Arkansas State's hapless defense, but I think the Cajuns have just enough firepower to get away with a "W".

Cajuns open at -1.5.

I do wonder if we didn't have a bye week before Troy would it had been a different game, meaning we were coming off a huge win and the week off hurt us.. I dunno.. Troy seems to be playing on a different level though.

That being said.. Gloves off this week (Sorry FrankyP).. But it's on.. Let the trash talk begin..

Came to say the same! Every SBC team that gets the duece in prime time, needs to put their best foot forward and show out. Not only for their program but the conference’s perception as a whole. Keep pushing the positive momentum forward every chance we get. Looking forward to the game!

The last time I can find a prime time game from Hattiesburg on ESPN was 2010, when we played Kansas on a Friday night. So it's been a long time since we had this kind of exposure for a home game, thanks to the weak CUSA media deals.

I usually have someone in conf. games I want to win. Tough in this one. Old comrad in Louisiana and a welcome newcomer in USM. Both of you beat us so you are both scum...I may have to flip a coin.

I’m behind USM on this one.

USM has been so fickle this season..

We barely lost to Liberty in Week 1
Miami knocked our peters in the dirt in Week 2
We beat the brakes off Northwestern State in Week 3
We knocked off Tulane in Week 4
Barely covered the spread in the Bye Week
Troy welcomed us into the SBC play with a drumming in Week 6
We barely escaped Homecoming in Week 7
We barely escaped TX State's Homecoming in Week 8

I honestly don't know what to expect Thursday night.. I feel like we're on the right path, but I'd give anything for us to give someone besides a FCS school a beating.

I feel like this game will take all 4 quarters and will be a nail biter until the final whistle..
