That was the orginal report, but as emu79 noted, he is suspended (without pay I might add). The hearing is next month and I would guess that he when he is actually fired.
There will be no sererance. When he signed his crazy 10 year $95M contract it was fully guaranteed, meaning if they went something like four years without winning a game they could fire him but still have to pay him all $95M. The one exception was if he was fired for cause...which this would be. That means MSU will save nearly $80M.
Not matter what you think of anything else regarding Tucker or this situation, the good news for MSU is that it sounds like they are getting out from under a guy who (in my opinion) is a bad football coach.
Matt Ishbia, the new owner of the Phoenix Suns is going to be a major player here. He got drunk with the first season success and was the financial impetus for the outlandish contract, it was reported that he was 100% invested in it. Once the layers were pulled back, however, Ishbia is probably only kicking in a third and MSU is on the hook for the remainder. Still, I am guessing that Matt as a private biz guy, ain't gonna write checks for someone to NOT coach. Just my take.

While it's possible Creighton leaves after this season, it won't be for MSU. I'd say it's nearly impossible Michigan State would hire him. If they were going to go the MAC route, Candle makes much more sense in terms of being able to sell the hire. Candle has a winning record and has won multiple MAC titles. Another good fit for them would be Leipold, he had success at a MAC school and now seems to be turning things around at a power five school.
I think we all understand the job Creighton has done and how amazing of a turn around it has been, but he still has a losing record and never been to the MAC title game, let alone won the MAC. Michigan State just went the route of hiring a guy like Tucker, who had a losing record, and we have seen how that has worked out.
If he ever takes another job I think it'd be a school considered a level up but not a big name school. Something like Cincy, Syracuse, Kansas...something along those lines.
Bullseye!

Amen. A bad coach with even worse self control and judgement.

He apparently needed to be told that you never punch the munchkin while the call is live. Talk about needing to be flagged for illegal use of the hand(s).
