The SBC will probably get another placement in the field; likely WVU or Marshall. We need someone else to take the tourney and get that auto bid.
The national seeds are not locked in, the tournament committee did their initial ratings on Friday. Since then, #1 Washington drew against Stanford, so it's a possibility Kentucky is in line to get the #1 overall seed if they win out. Despite being #5 in the coaches poll, Marshall was not in the initial committee's seedlings because of its RPI rating of #24. Given what the committee is showing, Marshall will need to reach the finals and possibly win it to get a national seed.
At this point, UK and Marshall have NCAA at large bids firmly locked up. Anyone else will have to win the tournament. As a group, the SBC largely underperformed to preseason expectations. A large part of that is WVU really underperformed going 3-5 out-of-conference and has an RPI of 63, but they've looked much closer to their expectation as of late and could be a dark horse in the conference tournament. Coastal, despite starting out 0-0-5 in conference, is actually our third highest RPI at 41, but without any Top 75 wins probably puts them on the outside. Georgia State is also in the 40s, but also probably has to win the tournament to get in.
Kentucky and Marshall are 2 of the probably 6-8 teams that have a legit shot to win the national title. I'm hoping its UK vs Marshall in the SBC final to get both a national seed and hopefully Marshall only has to win one on the road for the SBC to send 2 to the College Cup.
Kentucky gets the 3-0 win in the SEC Derby and claims the SBC regular season title outright.
Marshall up 2-0 late against JMU and is set to secure the #2 seed.
Coastal up big on Southern, and Georgia State getting the win over ODU.
Sets us up for...
In Lexington...
#1 Kentucky vs #8 South Carolina
#4 WVU vs #5 Coastal
In Huntington...
#2 Marshall vs #7 JMU
#3 Georgia State vs #6 ODU
Three of these matchups are replays of tonight's games.
Tuesday 11/1 GSU @ ODU UK @ USC 3-0
GS @ CCU 4-1
JMU @ MU 2-0
Final Standings
Kentucky 5-0-3, 11-0-5
Marshall 4-1-3, 10-2-3
Georgia State 4-2-2, 11-3-3
West Virginia 3-1-4, 6-6-4
Coastal Carolina 2-1-5, 5-4-6
Old Dominion 3-4-1, 6-7-2
James Madison 2-3-3, 6-7-4
South Carolina 1-4-3, 5-7-4
Georgia Southern 0-8-0, 1-14-1
I don't feel like there's much separation between seeds 3-6 as any of those seed are capable of beating each other and challenging the top contenders.
UK and Marshall get rematches of games played tonight in which both teams controlled. UK gets to play at home, and Marshall gets their best player back (Yosef) who did not play tonight due to card accumulation. I think the GSU vs ODU game on a neutral site is the most interesting matchup of the quarterfinals. I think WVU's recent form is probably too much for Coastal and their defense. But there's a reason we play the games, so we'll see how it goes...

We lost men's track and field and cross country to Title IX. I have no problems with Title IX, but track is a high-profile sport that a lot of football players double up in.
Former Marshall soccer player (sorry don't know the name) scores the go-ahead goal for Tormenta FC (in Statesboro) to win the USL League One Championship.

Jamil Roberts.
He had the golden goal winner for Marshall in the national title game. He's now had the goal to put two stars on uniforms...
I stopped in Huntington on the way home from Louisville today and ate at Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe, I didn't even realize there was a soccer game I should've been throwing in everyone's face!!!
Haha nah I wouldn't have been anyway, but hell I might've considered leaving Louisville a little earlier and catching this game if I realized it was happening. Huge win for the Dukes, how big is the NCAA soccer tournament field? Are we still gonna maybe get Marshall in as an at-large?

NCAA Tournament Field is 48. Real-time update, we are 30th in RPI including the loss today. 6 projected conference auto bids are lower seeded than 48, so we're safe by at least 12 RPI spots. Our resume is probably good enough to even be bumped up in seeding rather than knocked down, but the loss today cost us a shot at a national seed.

Nice, glad it's not gonna keep you guys out. Maybe we can even win a couple more and get three SBC teams in.

No men's lacrosse either.
Well, MLAX would be nice, but JMU has never sponsored it so it’s hard to miss what you’ve never had.
My father was a college track athlete, who also played FB, so I understand your point. JMU also lost Men’s swimming and diving, which had a long, long history of championships before it was cut.
Not sure what the point is in walking down memory lane about JMU sports never-offered, or cut due to the administration’s decision to fully invest in the maximum number of allowable scholarships in the remaining sports JMU does sponsor. Is it because you really do have a problem with Title IX?
Here’s to hoping Troy’s administration can find a way to sponsor MSOC. The more the merrier!

Nothing against UK, but I would love to see them lose so we can for sure get a 3rd team in.
Good game by JMU yesterday. We missed a lot of opportunities, and had 2-3 starters out. Hope we can get healthy and get back on track for the NCAA tournament.
