UCA just beat SFA 34-7.

CONFUSED about ASUN FCS playoff representative.

If UCA wins Sat. would they get a bid even though they would be only 6-5 overall since they would be 4-1 in league??

OR if this happens--what then?

If UCA beats Jax St they win the conference bid at 4-1. The winner of SFA/ACU will be WAC champion. The two conference champs are compared.
If ACU wins then they will have a better record in countable games and get the autobid. If SFA wins UCA would get the autobid due to head to head.

If UCA loses and EKU wins then EKU, UCA and APSU would tie at 3-2 in conference and 1-1 head to head. Next tiebreaker is the ASUN-WAC power ranking. As of today's rankings:

1. EKU
2. APSU
6. UCA

So then the WAC winner is compared to the ASUN winner in countable games. EKU would be 7-1 as the losses to FBS and FBS transition team don't count.

I have both SFA and ACU with 2 countable losses. If I am right on this then EKU would get the autobid.

I would think So unless there are any membership changes.

Utah Tech and Tarleton won't be fully transitioned until 2024 so the WAC will only have three playoff eligible members next year. Even then they won't have enough for an autobid until UTRGV is up and running. They are supposed to begin play in 2024 but I don't know their timeline for getting started so it may be a couple years after that until they are considered playoff eligible by the NCAA. So they will need a partner for a few more years unless someone else joins the WAC.

One of our posters on Maroon Nation e-mailed the Head of Football for the ASUN on how the autobid is determined. It is simpler than I said above.

The WAC #1 and ASUN #1 will be compared by power rating. Better power rating gets the bid.

The final Saturday of the inaugural ASUN Conference football season will go down to the wire with a trio of teams having the opportunity to earn a championship trophy. Eastern Kentucky hosts Kennesaw State at 3 PM ET while Jacksonville State visits Central Arkansas at 4 PM CT.

The Colonels and Bears seek wins while Austin Peay faces Alabama, already completing its ASUN season at 3-2. EKU hopes to reach 3-2, while UCA stands 3-1 with a chance to win the title outright with a victory over the Gamecocks. JSU is scholarshipped above the FCS limit (63) and is in its first year of reclassification to the Football Bowl Subdivision and is not eligible for the FCS Playoffs or the ASUN regular-season title.

Central Arkansas has already earned a share of the ASUN title. A UCA win over Jacksonville State will lift the Bears to sole owners of the ASUN championship. Should the Bears fall to JSU, they will be co-champions at 3-2 with Austin Peay and possibly EKU – who would reach 3-2 with a victory over Kennesaw. Vendors have delivered one ASUN Football Championship Trophy, one or two more are on contingency order pending Saturday's results!

APSU, EKU & UCA All Earn Share of Inaugural @ASUN_Football Championship after Week 12 Action

Everything was settled on the final Saturday of the regular season as Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky and Central Arkansas all earned a piece of the inaugural ASUN Conference Football Championship following the Colonels' victory versus Kennesaw State and the Bears' loss to Jacksonville State.

All three squads finished ASUN Conference play with matching 3-2 marks and were 1-1 in head-to-head matchups against each other. EKU won the tiebreaker based on having the highest ASUN-WAC Power Poll ranking and were compared with the WAC's champion, Stephen F. Austin, to determine the AQ for the FCS Playoffs. The Colonels claimed the bid to the postseason with a higher Power Poll ranking than the Lumberjacks. EKU returns to the FCS Playoffs for the first time since 2014.

…The Govs own a the league's best FCS record of 7-1 including a win over EKU and have a very strong case for consideration for earning an at-large invitation to the FCS Playoffs.
