We played in it in the COVID year. Great Stadium and pretty much the downtown Dallas area. I'd go back.

I didn't make the trip but we got a W there in 2015, our president wore a cowboy hat backwards, and the hashtag #YEEHAWDUKES was born 02-13-banana03-lmfao

There is a guy on HerdNation who is stating that it's the Sun Bowl ($4,550,000 payout). HOWEVER, we can't find any sources to confirm this.

I was just coming over to ask about this.

A PAC 12 opponent would be cool. And the SUN Belt champion going to the SUN Bowl would make sense from a marketing standpoint.

I made that trip. It was enjoyable watching SMU fans have a meltdown. Mustang fans were so confident of the W before the game, but afterwards asked why the SMU AD scheduled such tough FCS opponents. I think JMU was paid $440k plus transportation costs for the privilege of slapping the Mustangs around. 02-13-banana JMU’s QB Vad Lee set a D1 record for his combined rushing and passing yards. Still, the lousy JMU D under HC Everett Withers almost gave away the easy win. So glad TxState “stole” Withers from JMU. 03-shhhh

Yes, SMU’s stadium is very nice. Seats 30k, so would be easy to fill.

Wouldn’t be great for the fans though. How many will actually travel to El Paso?

The Sun Bowl would not be good for a conf in central to east US. We preach regionalism so stay with that. Make it easier for fans to go. El Paso...sheesh.

RE: What’s the 6th Bowl?
It's one of the oldest bowls. The prestige and payout would make it a nice one-off for our champ if they aren't access bowl bound.

Sun Bowl still have their TV deal with CBS? It was usually one of the few bowl games that could be seen on broadcast TV. Not sure if that's still the case. That's definitely something major in its favor.

In any case I'm gonna press X to doubt that it's happening anyway.

Yes, the game is televised on CBS.

CMU played in the Sun Bowl last season, beating Washington State, 24-21. It was a great experience!

RE: What’s the 6th Bowl?
Let's be real. The majority of people aren't traveling to bowl games. A historic bowl Vs a P5 on broadcast TV would be a great thing.

I'm skeptical though.
