RE: Looking ahead: Ranking Week SBC One Match Ups
I'd rank the week 1 FBS games as follows:
1. UNC @ App - Huge opportunity for App to get a big win for the league. App beat them last time right? Def capable of doing it again.
2. Army @ Coastal - Both had really good teams last year. Maybe the best G5/G5 matchup in the league week 1. No pressure but an important game.
3. Liberty @ USM - We'll see if USM is turning a corner quickly as this is another good G5/G5 matchup that should be evenly matched.
4. Va Tech @ ODU - Definitely winnable. Would be a great start in the SBC for ODU.
5. MTSU @ JMU - JMU should start their FBS lives with a win? I think? Interested to see how they acclimate to moving up.
6. TXST @ Nevada - I'm not holding my breath but this would be a very nice win for the league as has been mentioned. Would be a fantastic start for TXST.
7. Georgia State @ South Carolina - Winnable but gonna be tough. Would be a huge win in week 1 for the league.
8. Troy @ Ole Miss - Unlikely but you never know.
9. ULM @ Texas - Likely a bloodbath. Sorry Warhawk fans. I mean I'd love to see my UT friends and family in misery though so I'd love nothing more...

Looking ahead: Ranking Week SBC One Match Ups
I just want to see us manhandle our FCS opponent. It's been far too long since we've actually done that

Rattler transferred to USC for the season that we play them. I dont know what our gameplan would be against the Heisman candidate.
I'm conflicted on UNC vs App. Of course I want App to pull off a win. But we also host UNC at home the following week. There's no way UNC loses to SBC twice.

Not too worried about Grambling State. It'll be a good chance to test a young but talented Astate team. A bonus is that they are bringing their marching band so that's cool.

Why not? You guys should field a very good team, and the Heels, while loaded on defense, has a lot of question marks on offense, I think it will take the Heels time to get their offense rolling.

We have PLENTY of other threads to debate CUSA vs SBC. We do NOT need to derail every thread with the same drivel. The CUSA/SBC debate posts have been pulled out and placed in a separate thread on the Smack Board for those interested in continuing that conversation.

Dream 1 for the year is to get this upset, keeping Rattler under control, then when he pulls of a Heisman season after that folks keep talking about how GSU handled him in game 1.

They have ~14k students, and are therefore closer to us in enrollment than any of the other state schools. Plus with their location, they get a lot of wannabe tiggers that didn’t make that cut, but are still very good athletes.
Not to mention that we have a new coach, a lot of new staff/roster, lol.
(Ok, that last line is what is called sarcasm, for those who were not sure.)
Along the same lines Nicholls can be a tough out. Hopefully South Alabama has matured enough under our new staff to take that game without issue, but it wouldn't surprise me if that game was close. They took us to overtime in 2016 in a season South Alabama beat Mississippi State and #19 San Diego State. Nicholls only lost 27-24 to Louisiana last year. They won't back down in that game and I expect them to be a tough out again.
