It’s crazy how USA is the youngest school, but has the biggest endowment.

8 of the schools founded within 15 years of each other (1898-1913)
Marshall is 50+ years older than everyone else, only school that predates the civil war?

I'm curious how long ago each school played their first football game. JMU's first game was in Oct 1972.

USA's first game was in 2009. ODU, Georgia State and UTSA started up about the same time, give or take a year.

I wear Marshall gear almost every day. Whether it's full swag oe a small embroidered "M" on a dress shirt. Whenever I am out of town, no matter if in Atlanta, Dallas, or Phoenix, someone always says, "We ARE"... and of course I reply at the top of my lungs...

Marshall is a national brand, despite popular opinion from other conference fans.

Iraq.

We had a picture in our department at USM of a few soldiers displaying a USM flag while deployed.

I saw a USM alumni sticker on the back of a Mercedes convertible in Malibu sometime in the mid-90s.

On my honeymoon to Greece/Italy I wore a couple Herd shirts, so the locals got to experience some Kelly green. I did see a few other college swag on the cruise, but it was mostly Alabama or Texas gear.

Met someone from ODU at a random bar/restaurant when I was in Missouri.

I was in Prescott, AZ a few years back and passed a sign in an office park/campus that read "Old Dominion University". Blew my mind... I did not expect to see that, but apparently we have a satellite site on the campus of Yavapai College.

I was in Jonesboro last year at an A-State Rugby game and one of the stickers on the back of a car in the parking lot was the Troy parking sticker + they had a Troy tag. Other than that I'm the guy wearing Troy merchandise out this far west haha.

At the risk of instantly derailing this thread, I've got one for you guys. I think this falls under the "strangest representation" category. If you tuned in to the Jan. 6th hearing last week you might have noticed that there was a person in a "RAGIN' CAJUNS" beanie attempting to force his way into the capitol and subvert our nation's democracy. Not exactly a proud moment for our University.

hes probably a closet LSU fan. I know when somebody embarrasses App, we just say they're probably closet tarhole fans, they have no class (figuratively or literally)

Meh, I think every Southern school had someone represented at that thing. We all have strange alumni. There's a guy on our board whose biggest concern in the chancellors search is whoever they hire will "indoctrinate our students in leftist policies" whatever that means.

You just gotta ignore them in move on.

Not including TXST stuff I have seen, in Houston, JMU, App, Louisiana (most common but not surprised), GSU, ULM, and stAte. I am sure I have seen others but those I remember.

Let's go with that. So embarrassing for Louisiana.

It’s crazy how USA is the youngest school, but has the biggest endowment.

Many of the schools on the above list were former junior colleges, state teachers colleges, normal schools and maybe even were once high schools previously.

In 1963 State Legislator Rep. Mylan Engel of Mobile sponsored a bill to create the University of South Alabama which was derived from the University of Alabama Mobile. UAM was housed on the 3rd floor of the US Customs Building downtown but had started to create a campus on school board property on the corner of Old Shell Road and what is currently known as University Blvd. The bill passed and the rest is history.

I always smile when I see ODU merch far away from Virginia, it makes such good toilet paper.

The longest distance for me was seeing another person wearing a Red Wolves hat in the airport on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. I travel quite a bit for work and always make sure I wear at least one piece of Red Wolves gear.

As far as movies, Arkansas State was able to represent recently(with permission from the school) in Gerard Butlers movie "Hunter Killer". The movie takes place on the fictional submarine USS Arkansas. It was actually a pretty good movie also. The Red Wolves logo appears twice in the movie.

Have had a couple pics of GS grads in Iraq and/or Afghanistan make the rounds as well.

My mother in law was in a hotel fitness center in Germany when a guy came in wearing a GS sweatshirt. Turned out to be a former player.
