This list is all over the place. Coastal is way too high considering they lose their nearly all of their entire two deep outside of Grayson McCall. I have zero faith in Texas State being a top half team. James Madison would take them to the woodshed. Troy has not been a great football team, but that's a lot of disrespect for a program that has not been a bottom of the barrel team, and has just fired one of the SBC's worst head coaches of all time. There are at least four teams on this list that will exceed this guy's expectations.

Most surprising to me was Arkansas State. Surely things aren’t that bad over there? Butch Jones has a whole year under his belt.

I think A-State will surprise a few teams this year and finish mid-SBC or a bit above. Butch Jones will get it done and A-State will move out of the Cellar this year.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for Southern Miss, but we beat them last year, and they had a worse overall record, but ranked higher than Troy?

That right there makes this entire ranking suspect.

We beat them twice last year, combined score 65-29 and we are behind them. Obviously it’s not based off of last year or the year before.

Are you kidding? We were leading by 9 at the end of the 3rd. A typical Huff & Cramsey meltdown led to a App State 1-point win. That's after 2 missed FG in the 4th, either one could have led to a victory.

Now Cramsey is gone, and Huff is in his 2nd year. Hopefully, he has learned from his numerous mistakes in his inaugural year.

Yeah they kneeled the game out so they wouldn't get a turnover and blow their hard fought lead. But it was our game to lose and we came through as usual.

Looks pretty spot on but why the big jump up for Southern Miss?

You lost because your defense was gassed. They were coming off a game where they played 90+ snaps, and had to turn around and play another game on a short week where they played another 90+ snaps. They were worn out come the 4th qtr. Those two missed FG wouldn’t have made a difference. Noel would have scored and you would have still lost.

I heard this from Marshall fans a lot in the 80's and 90's. Of course either team could have won, both are solid teams.

Ended the year strong. Killed it in the portal. Second year with a well respected coach. Much closer to full scholarship numbers.

Ok...maybe I dreamed this but is NCAA talking about getting rid of the signing of 25 a year limit but keeping the 85 overall? That would be needed if you were hit especially hard by the portal.

I don't know about "woodshed"............ we'll find out this year when TXST comes to town this fall, but JMU is in for a lot of close games at best.

Marshall beat us in 2020 with our first year head coach. Marshall also imploded at the end of that season and hasn’t fully recovered. Louisiana is replacing a future hall of fame coach and an awesome 4 year starting QB, not to mention other NFL talent leaving and transfers. App is mostly the same, but I can play this game. We beat Coastal last year and won the East and they are 8 spots ahead of us!!!!?? What?!!!’
