When you add it all up, he has made about $9M off this run.

Bonkers. Saved and made NCSU millions too. The Pack AD and Keatts should send Tony a thank you note.

Yep. I would love to see how much DJ Burns has earned. I bet he comes out of this thing with close to 7 figures as well. Dude basically won the lottery with this run.

Foul when up 3.

He absolutely would have been fired and he's had specific language in his contract to extend him. People really don't want to believe it, but matchups and game luck can play a big role.

Absolutely. How a team matches up against another team both physically and style of play wise frequently goes a long way in determining the outcome. Luck is also an intangible that can make a difference, even if it isn't one you can always count on being on your side.

RE: ODU Fan Podcast
Finally got to watch the podcast last night. It's always nice to get to see or hear from Mike talking ODU basketball. Overall I'd say it was a nice podcast and a good job done by everyone affiliated with the creation of it.

It's really uplifting to hear Mike's enthusiasm for the school and the program that he was once a part of and is now once again going to have a say in how the hoops program performs. It's nice knowing that he seems to firmly believe that ODU will be returning to being the team that they used to be - which was pretty darn good. If he's as thrilled with his coaching staff as he has stated, then I am as well. I'm certainly excited to have one of our all-time greats (Odell) back on the sidelines again at ODU.

It was nice to hear that he is planning on playing an "up tempo" style of basketball and that will be a refreshing change from the slower game that we have witnessed the last decade or so. That being said, "up tempo" is a relative term which could mean anything from the fast-paced game played by Sonny Allen's and Paul Westhead's teams to anything faster than Jeff Jones's and Tony Bennett's teams. There's a lot of space in between those two styles so we really don't know how fast the fast will be.

I was disappointing that some of the questions that some others and I submitted were left unanswered. For example, we still don't know what his defensive philosophy is likely to be - i.e. aggressive full-court press (fast paced), trapping in the half court, zone (like Syracuse), etc. We still don't know what his current recruiting priorities are even though I'm sure that he does and maybe would have shared it with us - i.e. center, PG, 3-point shooter, experience, freshmen, etc., or if he is planning on holding onto a scholarship till later in the process in case a solid target (like M Hodge or someone else for example) became available.

All things considered it was a good podcast and Monarch fans appreciate getting to watch/listen to it. Thanks. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Id like to know more specifics about his unique role as "special assistant". What does that entail? How can he leverage his overseas connections to benefit the Monarchs? What is it like to be coaching at the same place his jersey is retired and he is considered a legend? Im sure it will be difficult for him being our coach, and trying to get up to see Villanova games, and games in NJ at the same time. Not sure how you ask about that, but Id like to know his thoughts and how he plans to juggle being a coach here, and an involved parent of a player elsewhere. Im sure that will be tough. Maybe they'll have two residences or something? Is he still a fan of professional wrestling and soap operas? What does he like most about being back in Norfolk?

Hey Monarchists. Will there be a post-Spring Game episode with RR? Id love to hear his thoughts on how spring practice went, the spring game, recruiting, roster churn and thoughts on the coming season.

Yes, we’re working on an episode with him.

I'd like to ask similar questions that I brought up for HCMJ:

How has campus changed since he left and what's his thoughts on the Ted/Mitchum Performance Center? And what is his favorite spot on campus (old or new)
What is it like coaching under a previous teammate and good friend? What is that dynamic like?
What is his coaching philosophy? As in, what does he want to instill in the players he coaches directly

If I can come up with more I'll post them! Can't wait to hear this episode

I understand, if this question is ignored. Any chance of his son, that is still playing high school basketball, transferring to a local high school?
