Instead let's have Cal State Fullerton travel to Southeast and Georgia State to Northwest. This selection committee lacks any practical sense.

If you forget, they changed bracketing recently to where seeding took priority not location. They seeded the tournament 1 to 68, and geographic location played no real role outside of the top 2 seeds getting closer sites.

Georgia State missed out on Greeneville because the Atlantic Sun certified its Regular Season champ as its AQ team. That meant another 20 plus win Jacksonville State team got a bid, and they were rated higher. That one win moved you guys from a 15 seed to the 16 and sent you from Greeneville to Portland.

Dont have a problem with JSU's placement. But NET rating differences between GSU and Cal State Fullerton were indifferent enough to consider other factors like team logistics, fan travel, familiar regional brands, imo...

Not saying Duke or Auburn fans wouldn't have taken over the building even in Greenville, but I dont doubt having few solid sections of folks in GSU colors finally back dancing in March since 2019.

The SBC couldn't care less about basketball. That came out of Keith Gill's own mouth, in a more passive manner of course. UTA and Little Rock's speedy departures justified that further. If you don't play football, you can't be here. It's a football league that just happens to play basketball too.

If seeding was how they did it, shouldn’t #1 overall Gonzaga be playing a first 4 #16 seed?

No. The 1 seed was required to face a 16, but it could be any 16. It appears the NCAA wanted to put one first four matchup into every region, and because of the wild number of Big 10 teams in the last few teams in, they needed one of the 4 at large play ins to fill Gonzaga's bracket

Once that happened, they could play any 16 seed. Georgia State was seeded 63rd, the highest of the 16t seeds. But they drew Gonzaga. Had Belamarine been certified ASUn Chaump they'd have been a 16 and Georgia State a 15

Haven't been following, what is the reason for not certifying their tournament winner?

They are in transition phase.

They let them compete in the conference tournament despite this? Wow.

Well, it's a dumb rule because the ARE D-1 basketball. The only thing transitional is football.

But that's what I'm saying. The committee no longer considers travel, logistics etc whenever it places teams. Only Seeding matters.

Classifying D2 to D1 is actually a more arduous process than FCS to FBS. They become postseason ineligible in basically every single sport for multiple years.

It seems relative seeding only matters in discrete units. It's quantum bracketology.
