Soccer would add much more to the total student experience than would golf. With title IX, we'll need to fund 11 more scholarships. Certainlly seems worthwhile to me. Boone spring weather is not suitable for golf, but fall soccer is Boone is awesome.

That would probably be swimming and diving. The SB could sponsor that too if an affiliate, like LR, joined the SB with ODU, MU, GS, and JMU.

I really think the SBC is in a great position to take over sponsorship of swimming/diving and beach volleyball.

Another interesting thing is that after Cincinnati moves to the Big12, the SBC will have as many women's lacrosse teams in the AAC as the AAC would itself (2). We could probably bring Coastal over from the ASUN and take over the AAC sponsorship with affiliates from the AAC(2), Big12(1), and SEC (2).

Moving the 3 field hockey teams under the SBC banner would be tougher, since there are only two other southern affiliates floating around (two other VA schools - LU & LU). JMU is playing this fall as an independent. I guess they will find their way into the MAC (with App and one of the LUs) or Big East (with ODU and the other LU) at some point.
