I think Seymour can be a good role player. He does need to gain some weight this off-season. As owner of Jersey Mike's in town, I'm gonna try to feed the team, and put extra meat on his subs without him asking. Lol
Still can't figure out what Sloan was doing when he fouled out?

So this board will spiral into a shitshow for a bit and then die, Brief sparks as announcements about people leaving etc.
but probably pick back up with half doom and gloom half way to high expectations
as the season approaches.

Jaden and Charlie also. But we need to get the transfers in to make a competitive team next year. We cannot tolerate another year like this one. Forbes inherited a mess when he showed up and did not complain about it. He got the transfers and moved on. Time for us to do that now.

The program cannot tolerate another year like this one. It is too good to be acceptable at this level of bad. Get the transfers in here.

Show some improvement next year, or third year will be thin ice for Oliver. But I don’t think his job is at risk, yet. Let’s see what happens. He’s not Mr. Charisma, but maybe he can be Mr. Persistent.

This is along the lines of what I have been saying. But ain't nobody got time for that.
I really wish Chattanooga had run Paris off (As in SoCon coach of the year of #1 seed) since his first two YEARS sucked, they made Oliver's first year look like Coach K.

Two seniors left this year. If more upperclassmen depart, that will be a vote of no confidence. That’s the cultural signal I’ll be watching.

This year was a freebie. It is now the era of transfers. No need for 4 year rebuilding plans. Get the transfers here and let us win. We all are simply showing concern for our program. Evaluate the program this time next year and see where we are. We need to show great improvement next year to warrant a third year.

Weber and King (both "Juniors" next year) are the only upperclassmen we got.
I don't really care about Weber at this point, He can be a good roleplayer
but I think we have seen him for 3 years, we know what he has. If he
is a key contributor to the team, we probably ain't too good.
(I suppose some switch could be flipped on and he is a star but, Nah)

RE: Official SoCon Tournament Thread: ETSU games
This is the point in our program (meaning today's program, not the ETSU basketball program) where I start another thread for you all who can't wait 'til the body's cold before going down that road. But this body's been on life support for so long, that I'll let you all set that up - and some of you have been "going there" already, anyway. Most years, this loss would have occurred in the finals, or nearly so, so...................carry on...........
I guess the main question left to answer for this year is this: Was this karma for shay's dismissal of Corley, karma for ETSU's shafting shay, or some combination of the two? We'll likely never know until someone finishes up the FOIA requests, and we can see the final settlement deal with shay. That still needs to happen at some point.

Bartow was not fired because the program was not a mess. It was. No player over 6 foot 3 inches. Forbes never complained. Went out and got the transfers ans start the program winning.

Banks, Lester, and Bradford were all over 6'3". Just sayin'. The program wasn't so much a total mess as it was that *everyone* had lost confidence in him (for obvious good reasons). Why it took 7-8 years longer than it should have is still puzzling.
But your point about Forbes just rolling up his sleeves and going to work is still valid. We have to keep in mind Oliver didn't have the time luxury Forbes did. He had to casts some wide and uncertain nets. Oliver had less time, and had no idea who all was going to still be here. It hasn't been pleasant to hear Oliver sometimes criticize players in public, as Forbes wasn't wired like that, but Oliver also has admitted, especially the last month or so, that he's really learning, too, with the implication being that he was in over his head to begin with. Chance are he'll do better next season.
It was a mistake to keep the bench at 10 players from the beginning, and I said so - and he forcefully stated that today post-game. But really, would it have been much different if Nunez and Farah had played spottily all year? Perhaps a tiny bit, but not enough to change the bottom line. He couldn't likely have foreseen Adheke and Patterson leaving, but it's just a general rule of thumb that there will be attrition along the way. There just is almost all the time.
Forbes is probably pretty much a certified hoops genius, or something akin to that. Oliver isn't. But we can't get a Steve Forbes every time around the merry-go-round. And Oliver will likely improve greatly; hopefully taking a big step for next season.

Forbes inherited 7 foot Peter Jurkin, 6'9 Hanner Perea, 6'7 Isaac Banks, future socon player of the year Desonta Bradford, AJ Merriweather. Those guys would mop the floor with the players Coach Oliver was left with

Forbes didn't inherit HMP. He brought him in and he had to sit a year. And yes, of course Jurkin. I didn't mention him in my refutation because bucfan81 didn't mention him in stating no players over 6'3". That was such a laughable assertion.....
