RE: WAC MBB Week #17
After NMSU's first season in the WAC, they have never finished lower than 3rd place in the conference standings. And in the last 15 WAC Post-Season Tournaments, NMSU has participated in 12 Championship games.

Is it? They started playing D2 move ups and unwanted, bottom of D1 teams.
UMKC, Bako, Seattle, UTPA, Chicago State, UVU. Not surprising, a school with basketball tradition was able to beat up on these schools. Great accomplishment! Very proud!

Really? You do realize NMSU won 4 of its 9 WAC Tournament Championships before the teams you listed above joined the WAC. The WAC field became weaker, but NMSU didn't. You can't fault NMSU for your school's deficiencies. We have even gone through four coaching changes since being in the WAC. NMSU has perennially set the bar and the rest of the WAC has sloooowly closed the gap... Not our negative. So YES! Very proud.

In 2013, you did not play any top 4 seeds on your path to victory
2012, again, did not play any top 4 seeds
In 2010, you did play the #1 and #2 seeds
In 2007, you won on your home court and didn’t play Top 15 Nevada.
So for 3 of those 4, you didn’t exactly go through a gauntlet to win the WAC tournament.

Again, you want to penalize NMSU for their consistency of winning championships. We cannot control who we play. Nevada, Utah State, Boise State slipped up in the WAC tournament, we did not. You can't say NMSU didn't earn those championship. They beat the teams put in their path. If you look at those Aggie teams, they had very good players regardless of the WAC opponent. So, in your thinking, Gonzaga's WCC Championships are meaningless because they played inferior WCC opponents.

The original comment was “very impressive” in regards to NMSU’s WAC titles. If you talked to a Gonzaga fan, I don’t think they would be “braggy” about their continuous WCC dominance. Winning the WCC is like taking a shower to them. They’re kind of meaningless as, they could finish 2nd and still make the NCAAs if they have a good non-conference.

Maybe, Gonzaga hardly breaks a sweat racking up WCC championship. And, maybe its a forgone conclusion that the Zags will be in the NCAA tournament but in time it will matter to those in the moment. And it is nice window dressing up in the rafters for fans and prospective recruits.

12 out of 15 championship games is impressive no matter how you look at it. Unless you're an insufferable homer.

When you have a program like NMSU, compared to the others, it should be expected.

RE: WAC MBB Week #17
So Double RSU, if Aggie fans add this 10th WAC Tournament Championship to our history of WAC dominance are you going to come back a year from now and say NMSU was lucky they played the 6th seeded team for the Championship?
