I told myself going into yesterday’s game that expectations this year should be tempered. My only expectation was that we don’t get swept out of the tournament. I honestly can’t remember the last time that happened.

I know it’s been a rough season, but the guys at least battled for the 2 seed, and this is really disappointing.

I think that we will be fine with Hood. He now knows what the team needs and will get it righted.

Hawks had 3 freshmen arms on the weekend this year. They have not been in this situation and are probably a bit worn down. The pen was not stellar overall. That should be a point of emphasis. Walks are a killer. The key is strike 1 then strike 2. Arm talent is not only velocity but location and movement.

Run support is an area to sure up. Hawks at the end of the day were not consistent enough at scoring runs when they needed to. I'll let the staff decide as they know more.

At the end of the day it's about Jimmys and Joes and it appears that this staff is getting them. I'm willing to wait and see because I think that it will work out fine.

Lol, the elephant in the room. A second place finish in the conference, regardless of the tournament isn't something to complain about. Extended years due to Covid left a lot of guys on the bench who didn't get PT and get a chance to develop, thus the need to tap freshmen as your weekend starters. We started the year with no idea who our pitchers would be and somehow managed to finish second. I'm amazed at the level of expectations when something doesn't go right by SOME posters. I'm all about "moving on", but i'm always more than willing to give coaches a chance before calling them out.

I'd say two more years is needed to truly get a look at what Hood is going to do as a HC.

Although disappointed with our early tourny exit, I am not all that surprised. Considering that our offensive output was up & down all year and we depended on three true freshmen weekend starters it is easy to see that we were on shaky ground. Combined with an erratic bullpen it was just a matter of time before things came tumbling down. Freshman starting pitchers are nice until they run out of steam toward the end of a longer collegiate season. We should be OK going forward.

The question needs to be asked, you gave an answer that's fine. I think 1 or two more years myself. Regular season doesn't mean a thing if you can't finish the job, or at the very least not get swept out by two lower seeds. He's gotten some nice arms, but we are losing some big bats off an already inconsistent offense. Many are frustrated with the offensive approach, That, is on coaching.

Hodges 15.2 innings,28Ks,19BBs not exactly great and can be replaced. Also had some attitude problems with the coaches. The bigger deal is Baldwin,Suggs and Thornburn are going to be tough to replace .
