I think Jimmy G is a decent starting quarterback in the NFL and you can win with him if everything else is in place. He is the 4th best quarterback in the NFC West and he would be the 4th best quarterback in the AFC West if he went to Denver.
Jimmy G is not the most athletic quarterback (192 yards rushing in his career) and he doesn’t have a gun for an arm. But he could help a team like the Saints, if they were not $75 million over the cap for 2022, and he could help Tampa Bay, which is a win-now team. The NFL knows what Jimmy G is today and he has a limited upside, which is why the Niners gave up so much to get Trey Lance.

Yes, Garoppolo would be the 4th best AFC West QB if he was in Denver, but what would be more relevant to the Broncos is that he is several orders of magnitude better than Lock. Same would be true for Washington and a few other teams. He won't be the best QB in any NFL division, but he would be a big upgrade for many teams, and he would be a solid bridge QB for a team that is moving on from a star QB, like Tampa, or Seattle if Wilson leaves.

I think it's a bit weird to say he'd be the 4th best in either of the West divisions. That would be the case for a lot of starters in the NFL. Somehow both west divisions are loaded with quality QBs.
For instance, outside of Buffalo, every team in the AFC East would probably have the 4th best QB in either of the west divisions (if you replace the current 4th team with them). If you simply add any of the AFC East teams (sans Buffalo) to the NFC West, probably would have the 5th best QB in the division (with only Mac Jones coming close).

Garoppolo has gone 35-16 as a starter for the 49ers, including the postseason. He has thrown for 11,162 yards, 66 touchdown passes, and 38 interceptions with the Niners. The win-loss numbers are good, because he is on a very good team. The passing numbers are not so impressive, and his rushing yardage numbers are pathetic.
I agree that he would be a solid bridge quarterback for a team like Pittsburgh, or New Orleans or Tampa Bay. Jimmy G is a good play-action quarterback and has good leadership skills, so if you are the Steelers and you plan on drafting a QB in the first round, Jimmy G would be an excellent QB to learn from and he would keep the Steelers in playoff contention in 2022.

The Broncos were 1-5 in the AFC West in 2021. If the Denver Broncos think they are just a good quarterback away from winning in the AFC West, then Jimmy G is not really the answer. He is an improvement over Drew Lock, but that is not going to be enough. If the Broncos acquire Aaron Rodgers, then they are in the mix.

Never said the Broncos were only a QB away. Not sure where you got that in my post.
I was merely pointing out that saying "he's the worst QB in the division" doesn't mean much when you look at who the other QBs in the division are.

RE: The Steelers after Big Ben
The Broncos new coach may not want Garoppolo anyway. He may want someone who can consistently throw deep passes, even if he can't get AR to Denver.
But... IIRC Denver was 7-6 when Bridgewater got hurt and then lost their last 4 with Lock at QB. They would have a shot at the playoffs with any QB at least as good as Garoppolo. They are not as far away as the Jags or Lions.

Steelers sign Mitch Trubisky on a two year 14m deal with incentives that total 27m.
