Thank you! Super excited. Look forward to playing in the CAA.

Although we were America East combatants for a brief period in the 2000’s, welcome to the CAA.

And don’t let those fools on the Basketball Forum tell you guys it’s a lateral move. The Colonial will always be better than the America Least. I don’t care how many teams this league may lose or gain.

Are there people seriously arguing that it's a lateral move? The AE without Vermont would be a low-major conference, and now they're down to 8 teams. It's undeniably a step up, not only in men's basketball, but pretty much every other sport as well. The AE needs to worry about keeping pace with the MAAC.

See for yourself…

Oof. LOTS of copium in that thread. I guess anything to avoid the reality that they are now an 8-team conference with no obvious quality adds.

With football - Campbell or NC A&T
Non football - UNCG or High point.

High Point is interesting. I did some reading on them now. They have almost tripled their size last 15/20 years… both in student numbers and in campus size/buildings etc. They are investing like crazy. And opened a brand new gorgeous arena. And happens to be #1 in south regional ranking.

But feels very plastic growth… new money? Sustainable? Low endowment. Can they keep this up and compete with Furman/Wofford/Elon for students and prestige?

Wow The man alone transformed the university. If it continues to grow, would you consider High Point as a solid add because of money and potential? I think I still prefer Howard, UNCG and NCAT and in that order if CAA wants to expand south.

I have been following CAA basketball with interest last few weeks. It’s deep and going to be slug fest. In AE conference schedule, we can just cruise and get 2nd, 3rd seed and but then lose to Vermont in AE tournament 03-pissed

I know there have been discussions with UNCG but haven't heard there has been a definite "no". Winthrop just doesn't fit the CAA geographically or size wise. I still think NC A&T committing could lead to a "no" from UNCG going to a "yes".

JMU replacement?
I got this info from a coach. To me winthrop is a good fit since they have been good over many years in basketball and baseball. If we have north south divisons it fits with any teams in north and south carolina.

+1

Also consider in lieu of UNCG either Radford or
High Point. Option to A&T is Campbell.

Big South is imploding and the poker game has the last card to deal.

I'd prefer High Point over Radford based on location and upside alone. High Point is pretty much a suburb of Greensboro and that school is on the rise. Still want UNCG though. And my hope is we get Campbell and NC A&T.
