I watched the entire game and I thought the game was officiated well. The call on Ballard for tripping on a screen was bull-something, but other than the bailout foul on Farrakhan, I could justify most every call. Noah just CANNOT throw the ball like he did after a questionable whistle.

We did miss Monty, and of course our recurrent mystery man Thomas Binelli. We did however, present a very effective full court press with Noah, Bryce and Darion attacking the ball. Bryce and Noah actually move their feet quite well on defense. Perhaps Stan learned something there.

At the end of the day, however, this was a BAD loss. NIU is not very good.

I don’t think this was a worse loss than the game against Ball St at home. Both games don’t bode well. Although, I think as ‘79 said in another thread, the MAC always has parity- any team can usually beat any other team. Hopefully Coach Heath comes up with some kind of strategy for improvement as you suggest.

Looking to me like WMU is just horrible, while Ohio and Toledo are pulling away early. Outside of that, we might just have a heap of parity.

Agree with that but I would include Buffalo as a top three. I still feel EMU will finish 11-7

Lucky, I hope you are right. Unfortunately, I think we just lost two close games that we would have had to win to get to that 11-7 record. We beat the almost certain two bottom teams in the MAC, but we lost a couple to the middle of the pack and have not seen Ohio, Toledo or Buffalo. If we get to the Murphy line of .500, I will be happy.

We start THREE FREAKING FRESHMEN, two of which have expended their free transfer card. Heath brought in just two one and done senior transfers, the Scotts. I had no illusion that we could win the MAC this year, but I am exuberant about the future.

Need to let season play out. Team a work in a long process.

Players starting freshman is not EMU’s main problem. Defending rim and three-point line is. Can’t allow teams to shoot 39.5 percent ppg on three’s, and 48 percent on two’s. If not corrected, EMU may face the same problem next season Do think

N.Scott should be starting over freshman Golson. Sure you’re not complaining about Noah starting.

Next year EMU will be better upfront. But not clear about the backcourt being better. Losing MScott and Spottsville will be big losses.

Even though McBride had a bad game against NIU, the announcer seemed to indicate that he refused to startx not exactly captain-like. Especially since Rice who did start had a bad game.

We lose Binelli and Scott up front. Is Randle ready for prime time? I like Golson and Mo's development this year. Look to see if we can get a combination of maybe two grad transfers and two true frosh or JUCOs to move up a few notches. Rice and Luka still projects in development. McBride should be a starter next year depending on who we bring in.

My point is there are real reasons why we lose these games. Not the refs.

True, but EMU did not protect their lead in the second half of the Ball State by not trying to stop the three-ball.

Agree on NIU game, but would add if Spottsville doesn’t turn the ball over with 2 minutes to play with ENU down two points, and Noah doesn’t foul and draw a technical that removes him from the game.EMU may have won the game.

Randle will be EMU’s best Center.

Hope EMU can find two first rate transfer SG and hybrid SF-PF, and MCBride continues to provide punch coming off the bench.

A little disappointed by the 2-2 start since that was the easiest stretch of MAC schedule any team could have possibly had. Not a good indication to hold a winning record in conference. We’ll see... Curious how they fare against Kent St at home.

What happened to Monty?

A 2-2 start in MAC play is not where EMU wants to be.

A 3-1 record would have given EMU far more wiggle room as it starts to play better teams, and pursues finding it’s identity. Covid has set EMU back.

But I’m confident EMU is capable of beating any team in the MAC. EMU will likely go thru some more growing pains fill they get there. Key is to finish no less than eighth in MAC play.

KSU is a very good opponent as it’s difficult to score on them inside which is EMU’s strength. Hope McBride is on shooting three-pointers.
