RE: KENT STATE Light Blue and Gold ?
Interestingly, I saw a site that listed the official colors as "Kent State blue" and "Kent state gold". As if that is very clarifying. A site on the official Kent State website clarifies as "The university's primary colors are Kent State blue (PMS 281) and Kent State gold (PMS 124)." Those colors are a dark blue, like a navy or royal blue and a dark gold, sometimes referred to as "old gold". That used to be the gold Kent State used, but it definitely got lighter over the years. I'm just talking about this because it's kinda interesting, the whole idea of different uniforms, but I really don't care what colors they use. Recently collegiate teams have been donning various shades of school colors and different combos and even black or gray. While it's more common now, it isn't new. I can recall as far back as the 1960s teams at the high school and collegiate level mixing it up. Everyone can remember how Notre Dame on occasion goes with green. To repeat, I find it interesting, yet essentially meaningless. A classic "tempest in a tea pot".

RE: KENT STATE Light Blue and Gold ?
This is right up there with beards on coaches. When we say the fan base is outraged we’re talking about 10 to 20% of the over 65 crowd like most of the posters on this board. The students like the variety. I’d rather have people who like powder blue to wear Kent stuff than North Carolina stuff. Russia is getting ready to invade Ukraine, one of our satellites just missed the Chinese space station (that would have been a mess) and I just saw a painting of Bill Clinton in a blue dress (not powder blue by the way). Let’s worry about the two basketball teams. They both were pretty bad last night.

As I said, I find it interesting, but meaningless. I don't care about colors, logos, fight songs, team nicknames... As far as I'm concerned, all those things are up to the students and players at any point in time. For all I care, the football players can wear purple zoot suits with pads, as long as they play well.

If Lewis dyes his beard powder blue then I'll be upset. Actually maybe that would be awesome. I can't decide. But now I want to see it so I can make a more informed decision.

I don't see an all-black uniform. Isn't an all-black uniform de rigueur in today's college sports, to be worn on occasion?

Weird to mention 180 combos for 12 - 14 games.

I'm sure I once, long ago, was familiar with the formula to calculate the total possible combinations. You have three items - helmet, jersey and pants. My eyes aren't good enough from that small photo to see how many different, if only slightly, helmets, jerseys and pants there are, but 180 seems high. If it is 180, they can go a total of at least twelve years with a different combo each game!

Pants - white, grey, yellow & blue
Jerseys - white, grey, yellow, blue & light blue
Helmets - white, yellow & blue (but various combinations of each)
While they only wore 3 helmets the face mask and logos were all different combinations so I believe they wore 14 unique helmets. I’m guessing 180 might be low when you calculate the possible combinations you may have with 4 pants, 5 jerseys and 14 helmets.

I wasn't aware there were so many unique helmets. Yeah, with the slight differences in various articles, 180 could well be low.

Looks like 280 to me.

I wouldn't care if they changed their colors to pink and lime green as long as they are winning.

I believe you are correct.

4x5x14=280
PS: It doesn’t change the calculations, but I just realized we had black helmets on against Miami.
Pants - white, grey, yellow & blue
Jerseys - white, grey, yellow, blue & light blue
Helmets - white, yellow, black & blue (but various combinations of each)
