Coastal, like a lot of teams I would expect, loses quite a few seniors and "super seniors" in their starting group. There are a few starters that are underclassmen. The good news for Coastal is that the rest of the 2 deep is littered with non-seniors. So while their may be a pretty big difference in the names of the guys that start, there still will be a lot of guys that have seen plenty of playing time already. I think the biggie for us without question is at QB1 with McCall. I believe that the staff has brought in some quite capable replacements the last couple of years through the nice step up in recruiting that you mentioned, but having McCall back is definitely what everyone that pulls for Coastal would prefer.

GSU beat us narrowly in a game where we were missing our starting QB.
If McCall plays that game, we win. So looking at overall power rankings for the season, Coastal is at worst #3. At best, #2.
No way... Coastal is at worst #4 and at best #3. Give me your argument for possibly putting them at #2 above App and UL.
I wouldn’t argue putting them above App. App beat us head to head when both teams were at full strength. No argument exists to put us above App this year.
I said “at best #2.” In that scenario, it would be 1. App 2. Coastal 3. ULL.
Really kind of yet to be seen if that argument can be made. If App annihilates ULL in the conference championship game, then it pretty much shows that the first game between you guys was an anomaly related to App missing arguably the best player on their roster at the time for the first matchup between you guys.
Coastal and ULL didn’t play head to head this year, so we are just left to look at performances against common opponents which has been a mixed bag.
I thought we went over this already.
1. Who did cc lose to? 2. How did UL do against those teams?
Discuss.

RE: 2021 Final SBC Power Ranking
First off, I think it is fairly worthless to argue a power ranking that is based purely on people's opinions. So I won't get into that part of the argument.
UL won all 8 of their conference games - so that looks fairly obvious to me that they'd be right up there at the top if I were offering my take on the power rankings.
To play devil's advocate for a second though, I can't help but notice that UL won 5 of their 8 conference games by only 1 score (8 points or less). Reminds me a bit of Coastal last year. They were good, yes, but how good? Last year Coastal did just enough to win in some games and caught a few breaks along the way....UL game, APP game, Troy game. Coastal had another nice year, but didn't quite get all of the breaks they got last year. They lost 2 conference games by a total of 5 points.

And what if you blow them out? What does that say?

RE: 2021 Final SBC Power Ranking
I think Coastal would have beat GSU if McCall played - but it is really moot because we don't know for sure.
Coastal has had good recruiting lately and they will be strong next year. App State will take a step back, but should still be a contender for the division. App's OOC schedule is brutal so they will be battle tested for sure coming into the regular season.
Who wins the East next year??? My super early, no way in hell right guess, assuming Marshall, ODU, JMU are there (and Troy isn't) is:
1) Coastal
2) Marshall
3) App State
3) GSU
4) ODU
5) JMU
6) GS

If we win by any margin, it means we are the conference champs. If we blow them out, it means that on that day the above statement is probably reversed.....App executed and they didn't. No need to over-think this stuff.

Except your offense put up the same amount of points as they normally do.
Yea, and our backup QB threw a pick 6 and also fumbled inside of our own 20 yard line.
14 of GSU’s points were directly attributable to our backup QB making blunders.

For real. They want to talk about blunders, look at the 21 points we pretty much spotted them in our game.

Tough to take that stuff seriously. And I think he really believes it.
