If McCall plays that game, we win. So looking at overall power rankings for the season, Coastal is at worst #3. At best, #2.

Georgia State beat Coastal fair and square. Every team has players out from time to time. You don’t get brownie points because you weren’t playing at your best. Georgia State earned that spot for beating Coastal. Coastal didn’t earn that spot because they lost to GSU.

Wait...when did I say they didn’t beat us fair and square? They sure did. It was completely fair.

This is it right here. Of course, we all look at games and see turning points, etc but give Georgia st their due. They beat you. All the ifs and buts makes you look small.

If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts ...

I think Georgia St will absolutely push hard for that top spot in the East next year.
We actually say “If If was a fifth, we’d all be drunk.” Just a variation though, and the point is the same with both sayings.

RE: 2021 Final SBC Power Ranking
I think GSU vs CCU will be for the East next year. GS has some talent but new coaching takes a bit to pick up. App loses enough to be in a real rebuild year. We'll have to be patient with Clark next year. Ponce might be gone too, so it's going to be an off year. I hope we get 8-9 wins.

That all depends on if we add ODU, Marshall, JMU next year ( I think we will)

God **** I hope those three join but don't win the division.

I never talked about tds being called back or interceptions etc. I think we SHOULD have won. You are talking about mistakes made and suppositions based on fantasy.

It's really easy for you to say that having maybe 2 games in the last 8 seasons where your #1 QB has missed meaningful snaps.

Where is Ponce going? He is in a position to be picky and I highly doubt he goes just anywhere.

As for App, the entire offensive line is back save for Hunter. Receivers who have played a lot the last two years are coming in. Brice may be back. Peoples, Noel, Castle, etc. Are all back. The defense could see everyone but Taylor, Jackson, and Kaiden Smith return if they want.

I don't think it will be doomsday in Boone. What we've seen for years now is that the next man up tends to have a higher ceiling than the guy that they replace. I think Taylor will be most difficult to replace but App has turned into "Linebacker U" and that should be no surprise with Dale Jones. Safeties have seen guy after guy step up and just fill the void, same with corners. You went from Dez Franklin (went to the NFL for a bit) and then he was followed by Josh Thomas (NFL), now Kaiden Smith who may get a look in the NFL.

Don't fret friend.

Yeh, definitely not doom and gloom. I think 9 wins would be a really decent year given the turn over. I'd be okay with 8 wins. Happy with 9. Stoked with any double digit number. Ponce is in the running for FIU (he was WR coach when Satterfield was OC) where he was for a chunk of years.

Obviously that's home for him, but they are a worse job than many FCS programs. He could wait out the FAU job which will probably be open in a couple of years and be in a much better spot.

FIU is career suicide after what Butch put out.

Coastal is losing a ton as well. I think it may be a rebuilding year for us as well. The only hope is that our recruiting has been improving every year since transitioning so that may help but I don't think it will overcome the inexperience.

I do think GS will make substantial gains next season. Helton is making moves offensively that look very promising. Our defensive front 7 this year, even with all the injuries, showed a ton of promise. An offense with any kind of pulse wins 3 or 4 more games this year.

Him not retaining Sloan is puzzling to me. The only plus of Georgia Southern was defense. As bad as the offense was, it was only a matter of time before Southern's defense would capitulate; that doesn't fall on Sloan.

As for what USC fans have had to say about what Helton's defense is like, and how he coaches up players to play on the field "with love and compassion", I'm glad Georgia Southern hired him. Hard nosed football will be gone from Statesboro as long as he is there.

No way... Coastal is at worst #4 and at best #3. Give me your argument for possibly putting them at #2 above App and UL.

I wouldn’t argue putting them above App. App beat us head to head when both teams were at full strength. No argument exists to put us above App this year.

I said “at best #2.” In that scenario, it would be 1. App 2. Coastal 3. ULL.

Really kind of yet to be seen if that argument can be made. If App annihilates ULL in the conference championship game, then it pretty much shows that the first game between you guys was an anomaly related to App missing arguably the best player on their roster at the time for the first matchup between you guys.

Coastal and ULL didn’t play head to head this year, so we are just left to look at performances against common opponents which has been a mixed bag.

App didn't lose to UL because of a missing player. We lost to UL because they executed extremely well and App didn't. Pretty simple. I think the rematch will look very different but I expect it to be a very hard fought and close game, just like most of our games with UL in recent years.
