MBB: Transfers to W&M
I am sure that most on this board will be watching the football game with Richmond on Saturday afternoon, but i will be in High Point watching the hoops game against Georgia State.

Not feeling really great about the Tribe's prospects for victory, but the uniforms will say Tribe or W&M, so I will be rooting for their success.

I got a ticket behind the visitors bench, but the Tribe might be the "home" team Saturday. I guess I will find out when the teams come out to warm up.

I haven't bought a ticket for the Sunday game yet. It might depend on how the Tribe and Howard look on Saturday.

Go Tribe!

Howard stayed with #5 Villanova last night before fading down the stretch. They were 3-0 coming into that game, including a solid road win at Bradley.

High Point hung with Notre Dame most of the game last night. Another well coached Tubby Smith team.

GA State handled Northeastern pretty easy over the weekend, but did not fare as well against Richmond last night.

RE: MBB #3 Georgia State
I am feeling a little nostalgic on the eve of seeing Tribe Hoops in action here in NC.

I just hope the game is more like the Tribes visits to Wake in '09 and NC State in '16?, rather than the trips to Campbell and Winthrop way back when. There isn't much worse than hearing the post game radio show of the opposition going on and of about their program's first non-conference DI win, or first win against a CAA opponent. Now those were dark days for the program. I hope to never see the likes of those again.

Georgia State a 14.5 to 15 point favorite.

Win or lose, I just hope that the Tribe plays like a team.

This tidbit about Tyler:

Freshman Tyler Rice has proven to be one of the top assist men in not only the CAA, but the country. The point guard leads the CAA at 5.3 assists per game, which is also 51st nationally. According to KenPom.com, his assist rate of 43.6 is 29th nationally. In the opener at Wake Forest, Rice dished out nine assists which were the most for a Tribe freshman in a debut in program history.

This factoid, from the ever inciteful Kris Sears, sort of backs up what we have been saying about "growing pains":

For the second-straight season, W&M ranks as one of the youngest teams in the country in terms of minutes played by underclassmen according to KenPom.com. After ranking as the 34th youngest team in the country in 2020-21, the Tribe is the 19th youngest team this season, averaging just 1.06 years of experience based on minutes played.
This season, W&M started four freshmen and sophomores in each contest, including all five starters at Norfolk State. The two classes have accounted for 76.5% of the team's minutes (459-of-600) and 73.3% of its scoring (143-of-195).

Rebounds 27-16. Not surprising when you are shooting 30%.

RE: MBB #3 Georgia State
Panthers win 77-59.

Kochera with 16 pts, 3 boards
Wight with 14 points 7 boards

Tribe was 6 of 25 from 3 and a disappointing 13 of 23 from the FT line.
Rice and Carroll combine to shoot 2 for 15.
18 TO's for the Tribe in the game.

To play Howard tomorrow.
