Well, App managed to get an ESPN 4 star so there is that. Other than that, all three star guys, 247 Sports has the average at 84.something.

I hate that. I really hope Texas State wakes up and heads in a new direction. So much high school talent there in Texas to not be bringing in any recruits.

That just isn't right. I remember thinking that Spavital was an odd choice for HC when he was named at Texas State. Watching him as an asst at WVU he never struck me as a leader.

GS doesn't have a dedicated 247 team so who knows? Helton just came in and rescinded some offers though so it's all in the air. I think there's a pay side on gsufans that deals with recruiting.

According to 247 we have 2 commits.

3 star ATH & an unranked OT….

If true another reason Chip sucks.

Yeah we’ll have to wait for the dust to settle before we can determine how we stack up against the rest of the Belt.

Yeah. Right now our only way to know which recruits have committed is from a couple of dedicated posters on the pay side of GSUFans that tracks all of the commits. I believe one of them was looking into running 247 for GS earlier this year, but it's a ton of work that really isn't necessary.

Nothing to talk about as nobody has a full class. GS will probably not be full until the second signing period. I doubt Helton has enough time to fill out an entire class in 40+/- days. Marshall's ranking is almost all quantity at 27 listed rather than quality. Over 40-50 FBS teams have a higher per recruit average with nowhere near a full class. Will probably drop from 50 to the 80's, maybe 70's due to the size of the class being larger than most will sign.

Way more confirmed commits than what is currently listed on our 247 page that is unmanned.

Likely more flux coming to it as Helton fully takes over after App.

It will be updated on signing day. I wish we could just merge GSUfans with that board. It is a better platform and we could have up-to-date recruiting information. You have to produce some content but we have several folks that can write and article once a week.

Really excited about what Butch Jones is doing and 100% behind his efforts to rebuild the roster the right way. Expect most if not all of the 25 slots to be HS players and the 7 extra to be portal guys in key spots. I believe he has five HS OL commits already and that is music to my ears. Blake stopped recruiting OL heavily. You have to recruit a ton of OL to get solid results. We will have to see several more go to make room but as I recall, CCU had a mass exodus the two years before they took off.

If those averages hold we are starting to enter MW / AAC territory, lots of spots to fill though. Definitely putting CUSA and MAC in the rear view for sure though.

RE: Sun Belt Recruiting 2022, What Do Ya Have (Early Signing Dec 15)
College recruiting has changed and probably not for the better. On May 1st, you can enter the portal, and by July 1st you have to make a decision. That will be a 2 month free for all for some schools. Those schools with problems on the team could lose 5, 10, 15+ scholarships athletes in a snap. There is not penalty for transferring and if your star player want to see what his NIL is worth at other, bigger schools, he has a couple of months to shop around look for the best deal. Wonderful, isn't it?

College staffs will need another layer of recruiting just like the NFL. One for HS players and one group looking at the portal because both groups will required time and dedication to properly find the players needed to improve their respective teams.

It will be a **** show.

GSUFans is better set up for the community, but yea 247 is better tracking for recruits.

The content requirements are way more than you think they are. No one on our side has shown a particular appetite for what's required, so it is what it is. There's also very little appetite in us long time members of the community to migrate either.

Social media has become more of an outlet for "attention" on recruits committing as usually any commit is shared by the recruit themselves on the platform of their choice more so than pointing to a list on a recruiting site, at least during the recruiting season. The only list that really matters is the one after they've signed LOIs anyway.

You're neglecting a very important thing that hasn't been an issue in the past.

Recruiting will no longer stop once a kid signs. You have to CONTINUE to recruit him during his entire career, with the portal providing an easy means to "re-enter" the recruiting game with other schools.
