9. Troy (81.53)
10. South Alabama (80.38)
11. Georgia State (80.37)
NR. JMU
NR. ULM
NR. Texas State
That 84.18 for Georgia Southern is based on ONE recruit. 247 only has us with 4 commits and only has one of them rated. In reality, we have and 12-15 commits currently.
Our 247 page isn't going to be accurate until signing day, and even then there might be a delay in rating the class.

Most recruits have a rating if they have other legit FBS offers, especially ones with pages. 24/7 is a composite so if they miss a player the other two ratings will be applied as well. Hopefully, we are getting kids that were on the radar before the end of their senior year.

Marshall has 5 recruits committed from Texas just this year. I don't think Doc had 5 recruits from Texas in his 11 years in Huntington. Just goes to show what recruiting ties Coach Huff has.

During the realignment talk, someone spouted that usual lie about needing FIU because it would help recruit FL. That might have helped 20 years ago but you don't need a team from a State to recruit there. Of the ASU 16:
Tennessee- 4
Florida- 3
Mississippi- 2
Georgia- 1
Texas- 1
Arkansas- 1
Iowa- 1
Illinois- 1
Missouri- 1
Alabama- 1
12 of the 16 from states outside the SBC prior to the latest round of expansion.

The state of Florida still leads in recruiting for Marshall
Florida (8)
Texas (5)
Georgia (3)
Ohio (3)
South Carolina (2)
Arizona (1)
Kentucky (1)
Louisiana (1)
Pennsylvania (1)
Virginia (1)
West Virginia (1)
None of them said "No Thanks" after Marshall announced their move either.

On May 1st, you can enter the portal, and by July 1st you have to make a decision. That will be a 2 month free for all for some schools. Those schools with problems on the team could lose 5, 10, 15+ scholarships athletes in a snap. There is not penalty for transferring and if your star player want to see what his NIL is worth at other, bigger schools, he has a couple of months to shop around look for the best deal. Wonderful, isn't it?
College staffs will need another layer of recruiting just like the NFL. One for HS players and one group looking at the portal because both groups will required time and dedication to properly find the players needed to improve their respective teams.
It will be a **** show.
You're neglecting a very important thing that hasn't been an issue in the past.
Recruiting will no longer stop once a kid signs. You have to CONTINUE to recruit him during his entire career, with the portal providing an easy means to "re-enter" the recruiting game with other schools.
Neglecting or failing to include more details in my original post. But you are defintiely right about having to continually insure your "keepers" are not looking elsewhere. With being responsible for 100+ empoyees, it's impossible to keep them all happy. There will always be disgruntled team members in every group so, you should expect some level of turnover every year. Retention will be a focus, no doubt. I asked Coach Napier in August, what he was going to do with 8 QB's on the roster....he looked at me and said, "haven't you heard about the portal". QB's and skill positons will see the most movements, but it won't stop there. Being able to move back home without losing a year of elgilibity will be motivation for many...and a litany of other personal reasons. Programs having "issues" internally will see the most disruptions. Its a new ball game, that's for sure.

Its basically free-agency with no salary cap. Oh, you need a top QB? Coach just tells the recruit "come here and Booster Alumni's Ford dealership will pay you $2 million to be in a TV ad for him. It'll only take half a day of your time." Highest offer gets the players talent.
