That seems to be the reaction I've seen from most people. It must just be me, but in my mind LSU is a better job. Lower recruiting standards, better weather, LSU is going to pay him over $10M (I think he was making something like $7M at ND).

The other argument I've heard is that the path to a national title is easier at ND vs. LSU because you don't have to deal with the SEC...I don't by that. In the BCS/NY6 era alone LSU has won three national titles. Notre Dame hasn't won anything since I was a toddler. The few times they have been "close" (BCS title game vs. Alabama, and two CFP appearances) they clearly weren't actually close.

I'm calling my shot : Urban Meyer to ND

Fickell and Campbell getting a bit of press but it sounds like ND was so blindsided by this one that they will need a few days to get it in gear.

Fickell and Campbell are the guys that will affect the MAC - whether EMU or otherwise. if one of or both of them leave their current positions i can see the chain reaction making its way to the MAC.

I'm cruising the MAC coaching rosters. The only obvious plucks are Jason Candle and McElwain, right? Or you might look at Neu or Lewis for getting Ball State and Kent State out of the cellar.

None of these guys are in play yet but they will be if P5s keep raiding each other.

I think Candle, McElwain, and Lewis are the 3 mostly likely to go.

Mac is definitely in play - he was brought up with Washington and Wazzu. Could Fresno come calling for him? Or Iowa State if Campbell leaves?

I wonder if Chuck Martin would follow Brian Kelly to LSU.

Dear Friends,
I don't know about Coach Campbell, he has not beaten his in-state rival Iowa, and isn't his overall record rather mediocre. What's all the excitement about him?
I've said it before about McElwain. Baggage. Possible involvement with performance enhancing drugs at both Colorado State and Florida, and then claiming his life was threatened at Florida, with the police finding no viable information about it.

He just signed a contract extension but keep an eye on our favorite boat rower, Fleck, to be in the ND conversation.

Flashback (memory) may be flawed. Fact or fiction:

Were we set to sign Brian Kelly when CMU came in late and nabbed him?

That seems to be my memory...

We were to hire him, he switched to CMU and we went for Jeff Genyk. Correct????

I think that’s correct. If we would have had Brian the mission to achieve another MACC would have been completed.

And my point.

Kelly had two choices. He went with the program with the GREATER RESOURCES, record of success, etc. etc.

'79 always mentioned that Genyk was faced with a really, really tough uphill climb.

This is why I always say don't look at EMU sports with rose colored glasses. Potential coaches look at resources, facilities, budget, salary, etc. etc. and make a decision many of us would make.

I am happy with the progress EMU is making to facilities to close any gaps which may have with facilities (and we can thank many for the SAPC).

Very good get for Akron. He was making more at Oregon but I just read an article and this dude seems great. He spoke about how once you have some money, it's about happiness. Also claims he doesn't carry any cash and has to ask his wife for an allowance.
He was at Akron before and this seems like a homecoming. I think previous coaches record was like 3-24

Just a short note that Coach Neathery has been nominated again for the Broyles awarded for top assistant football coach for 2021. His first nomination was in 2017.
