The last couple of years, Asheville has been rebuilding after 10 years of quality mid major play (3 NCAA Tournaments since 2011). I'm not sure where the poster got that we were voted 6th, we should be between 2nd to 4th place this season in the Big South. The conference did preseason predictions by division this season.
North Division (first-place votes) Points
1 - Campbell (20) 148
2 - Longwood 96
3 - North Carolina A&T (3) 92
4 - Radford (3) 83
5 - Hampton 70
6 - High Point 57
South Division (first-place votes) Points
1 - Winthrop (23) 152
2 - UNC Asheville (3) 131
3 - Gardner-Webb 103
4 - Presbyterian College 72
5 - Charleston Southern 47
6 - USC Upstate 41
This years team should be a lot better, with a lot of talent. We've also got good size as well. My prediction would be 11-5 in conference. I still think Winthrop takes conference. This is the first time I've ever seen Longwood projected high. The top conference programs the last decade would be Winthrop, UNC Asheville, Hampton, Gardner-Webb and NC A&T.
With regards to our matchup Tuesday, I have heard y'all have a lot of talent, but I know nothing about your players. I do suspect this will be a pretty good matchup. If Asheville gets hot from behind the arc, watch-out. That will be a problem. Tajion Jones is top-10 in the country in 3pt shooting and if Jude gets hot with him, it's hard to match-up. We've got size with NC Central transfer Evan Clayborne, Tennessee transfer Pember and BJ Marable. Again, without out knowing much about your team, not too sure what to expect.
My projection info is from KenPom. He has you guys tied for 6th in the conference, but actually rated the 8th best. However, in his rankings there is little difference between the 4th place team and the 9th place team.
Thank you for sharing the conference preseason predictions. In a recent interview our coach had actually mentioned the higher projections you shared. I plan to look at your transfers today.
Right on, thanks for the heads up! Sorry for the late reply. Looking forward to the game. Are we able to watch in online for free, or is there a subscription required? UNCA plays all home and conference games on ESPN+, so I'm not as familiar with how the CUSA does it.

Ah, welcome to the good ole CUSA media circus. I believe this one is located on CUSA’s proprietary platform, CUSA.tv which costs $6.95 for a one day pass or $10.95 for a month. It’s so fun because half the games are here, then some on ESPN+, some on CBSSN, some on ESPN. Guess you just have to subscribe to them all!!! CUSA is like a box of chocolates, never know what you’re going to get!

C-USA broadcast experience is like a box of chocolates except some of the brown contents inside might not be candy.

I wish we’d make the jump to American after this season. Even if not for the competition, for the media handling. I’m so excited to be able to stream every game on the same platform instead of the hodgepodge of crap we have now. Being able to subscribe to ESPN+ and have access to every game will be incredibly nice

Lol that's crazy! I guess I'll just sign up for the 1 day pass then.

RE: UNC Asheville
UNCA’s win over Winthrop late last season was a major upset. Winthrop dominated the Big South and had even beaten a KenPom top 100 team in Furman.
The UNCA at Winthrop game was competitive, but inside of 5 minutes left Winthrop had a nice 52-44 lead. Then Asheville went on a 13-2 run to lead 57-54 with a minute to go, and won 57-55.
That 13-2 run by UNCA only included one 3. Winthrop shot poorly the whole game and were only 3-20 from behind the 3-pt arc.
Winthrop went on to win their next seven games, before losing by 10 to Villanova. UNCA lost their very next game to Longview (77-61) to end their season.

RE: UNC Asheville
Vrry sparse attendance. As someone mentioned, these early tipoff (6 & 6:30) are horrible.

Gotta close out on these guys. Too many open looks from 3.
Buffen and Walker playing well. Like our frontcourt of Buffen, LeBlanc, and Trey.

UNCA looks pretty good to me. Would be competitive in C-USA. Can’t leave them open or they will make you pay.
