After he leaves MSU you will hear it from them too. The one good thing is he may get the Bears off their duff and into a FBS conf. That would make our games with y'all better.

I don’t disagree. BUT you also have no idea the TERROR that was our assface prior head coach. The man was a walking prick. His completely ruined the atmosphere in the entire athletics department, on top of being the worst coach in school history.

He was a jerk at WKU as well, but he left after 1 year and we hired Brohm. Best decision ever.

We got an 8-4 season out of him and made money with the buyout when he left. It was a win-win for WKU.

And I'd be happy with MoSt in the conference providing they bring ALL sports with them. I just don't want a football only agreement while the other sports stay in the MVC.

Fake news everywhere about the man. He had the incident at Arkansas back in 2012. Western Kentucky hired him in 2013 and you can ask the WKU people on this board but the Hilltoppers loved having Bobby. Then Louisville opened up the next year and Bobby went back to the place he loved where he had the most success. At Louisville he turned Lamar Jackson into a Heisman winner and restored the Cardinals to the glory days of his first run. The team struggled the year after Lamar Jackson left and the AD had a pretty quick hook.

He has brought a lot of life to the program at MSU. As he continues to win games he would love to hand the program off to his son Nick at the appropriate time.

I've followed Louisville since Scott Satterfield was hired there and that place was literally left in shambles. The culture, roster, athletics department et. al. were heavily impacted by Petrino.

I'm not sure if Lamar was there before Petrino or is he recruited him there but Petrino's recruiting until he was fired was putrid. Satterfield effectively had to rebuild the entirety of the roster on both sides of the ball because of how unbalanced the recruiting was in position groups and year.

Anyway, if it works out for you all, that's good. The reports of how he left Louisville were not exaggerated. If anything they were tamped down quite a bit considering no one was surprised after the Arkansas thing.

Louisville is a very tough place to win. The kids in Kentucky dream of playing in Lexington for Big Blue Nation. Louisville is to UK as Wake Forest is to UNC/NC State in my opinion. Not talking academics.

Petrino has brought in around 30 transfers I think. It is easier to overhaul an FCS roster. The local HS coaches seem to really like him. They role the red carpet out when he comes to watch ballgames on Fridays like he is some kind of celebrity. He has gotten high impact FBS transfers at several key spots.

I understand that people will always attack Petrino because he is a mighty soft target wearing that neck brace at that press conference and with all those silly memes. I sort of sense that he feels more at home in Springfield than he has at a lot of his other stops. The town and university have embraced him and really bought into what he is selling. I talk to all these people that tell me he will leave at his first opportunity and he didn't last year when he won a share of a conference title. Don't hear his name connected to any FBS or NFL jobs right now either. Maybe he will make a fool out of me but I think he and Nick stay and build this program into a real tough program.

He absolutely wrecked the Louisville program. The rise/fall/rise/fall/rise(?) of Petrino is truly fascinating and would make for an excellent book or documentary. I have follow Petrino pretty closely over the years and what is pretty clear is that he isn't great to work for. That's why he is surrounded by family members because they have to put up with him. Now, it is certainly possible he has changed and I'm glad he is working out at Missouri State. I believe when he was at Louisville the second time his father passed away and I had heard that it was very difficult for him. I've always wondered if he just sort of checked out after that.

All that said, it seem Missouri State would be a nice addition to C-USA.

Thanks for the link.

It pretty much says at the end of the article what I’ve been saying in the last few days: it might be the last chance in a long time to move up to FBS and C-USA is the last option left to make it happen even if basketball gets a downgrade.

Missouri State has a decision to make and it has to be soon.

I think as long as the five remain committed and NMSU jumps on board Missouri St is coming. Too much smoke there for it not to happen IMO.

Plus it would be a strong basketball league. New Mexico St., Tech, WKU, UTEP and MTSU all have a strong basketball history. UTEP will be improved with their new coach. Just need MTSU to step it back up. Middle has too much history in basketball to not be good.

Notice how their AD is not even trying to do the bs line of “we are happy where we are but we are evaluating the changing landscape in college sports” most ADs say.

A lot of people think this is a make or break year for Nick McDevitt. I think unless he is above .500 he is gone. His contract is up after next year I believe so he isn’t going to make it much longer if there isn’t massive improvement.

RE: Info on Missouri State
I'd like to see Mizzou State....that's not a thing is it? Missouri State in FBS. I was partial to them coming to the Sun Belt if possible because I didn't know much of their FCS exploits, however I thought that they would give Arkansas State a legitimate geographic rival. Perhaps that's a game that can now be played out of conference and be somewhat relevant to the surrounding areas.

Would be a nice schedule filler each year.

And please, never associate us with Mizzou. :-)

I would put Missouri State at the top of the list of potential CUSA suitors out of the FCS programs being mentioned, especially way ahead of Tarleton State.

Missouri State could be a linchpin in the new C-USA midwest strategy. The southeast well has been pumped dry.

RE: Info on Missouri State
I’m stealing this from someone on a Tech board.

Illinois State - $28,290,674
Missouri State - $27,776,407
NDSU - $27,662,982
SDSU - $22,263,886

UTEP - $32,172,228
WKU - $31,531,023
LaTech - $23,317,307

The south east FCS teams don’t have the budget these guys do.

This is what I would like to see as the new realistic additions if Missouri State comes on board:

MO State
NMSU
Sam Houston
UMass (football only)
UCONN (football only)
Army (Football only)
Murray State (everything but football)

I'm hopeful CUSA adds Missouri State. It is a No-Brainer for them and us. They would be an excellent addition to the current CUSA in every respect.

Wouldn't it be nice to not only get $1 Million+ guarantees for FBS away games that currently pay 40-50% of that, but also having home games in Springfield against teams like Illinois, Iowa, or even Missouri? It becomes more possible at the FBS level.
