If your town/county has an airport authority worth a spit, they could get it done. There is all kinds of federal funds available for airport improvements. Also, having a good airport helps drive economic development.

They actually just finished resurfacing the runway at Brookley Field.

I always thought they should do this. Brookley is practically downtown and right in the middle of the action. Didn't Frontier operate out of there for a while?

They did... they came to Mobile with the explicit condition they wanted to fly downtown and not in West Mobile. I think the move will be good for the city and region. We have Delta, American, and United now, but we need a Southwest or other low cost carrier to come in and shake things up with price.

Most everyone will fly in and out of Charleston's Yeager Airport (CRW).

This is the newest addition to Yeager.

Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport (PIB) is where our teams fly out of and opposing teams come in. It is about 10 miles north of Hattiesburg. For commercial you’d likely fly into Gulfport-Biloxi or even New Orleans.

Norfolk International is my favorite airport. I show up an hour before the flight, go through security in about 15, and am on the plane 15 after that

Savannah-Hilton Head International is less than an hour from Statesboro. Serviced by most major carriers and lots of direct flights.[Image: 83eb17c9c45b648fc4e3bbf375732235.jpg]

I saw the plans for the new 8 gate, 160m terminal at BFM. Very nice!

LFT is about to replace the current terminal with a new 5 gate, 120m facility. After the old terminal is torn down, two more gates can be added as needed.

For UL majority of fans will fly directly to Lafayette(LFT) and the athletic teams fly out of a private runway behind LFT.

There’s a charter area at LFT, but the runway isn’t private. Charter flights use the same runways as all other flights.

Yeah, this new terminal will be great. Although no formal opening date has been announced, it should be opened in the coming weeks.

That map brings back some memories. Used to live in Poquoson and York County (went to Tabb High). Haven't been back in ages.

I have flown in or out of maybe 40 or 50 airports and agree Norfolk is among the best.

If I was visiting App State by airport I would definitely fly into Charlotte due to direct flights to every one of the SBC areas. Greensboro is a better choice than Johnson City also, though you will be changing in ATL or CLT.

LOL....I'm not sure where else we have direct flights to. I know Orlando and Charlotte as well.

We also have the airport in Charleston around 45-60 minutes East of Huntington.

And the Charleston airport has direct flights to Atlanta.

Visiting fans should find way more options and better pricing flying into Charlotte. 95 miles and four lane highways all the way to Boone.

I’m not positive, but I think every airport I’m the world has direct flights to Atlanta. It was part of the contract requirement for GaSt to come into the conference.

RE: Airports
Teams that charter will fly direct into Huntington Tri State. Then about a 15 minute drive to campus. If they fly commercial, they can fly into HTS Huntington or CRW Charleston. Charley West is about 45 -50 minutes to the Huntington campus. CRW has more commercial flights and served by more airlines than Huntington.

All Marshall teams that charter fly out of HTS.

App people, why don't opposing teams fly charter flights into Wilkesboro? Is the airport more of a personal jet level runway or what?
