I could live with Atlantic/Gulf or East/West but I really like the idea from a previous poster about sponsored divisions as a way to generate additional revenue for conference members.

Here are some Fortune 500's from SBC states.

The East/Atlantic sponsors could be:

Yikes. A conference with South and East, but is not the South Eastern Conferences?

East and West is fine.
But Gulf and Atlantic is accurate enough that the unique names would be more colorful than confusing. Nothing wrong with color.

Sun and Belt uses appropriate nomenclature but would be geographically confusing.
