Did anyone see the attendance at the game yesterday??? The game will be moved soon, and Legion will be condemned. To expensive for the city to keep up two stadiums when one is empty and has been neglected for years.

Also, I’m shocked to already see people complaining about the location of Protective, personally I never had a problem at Legion and haven't seen any problems at Protective. Except for maybe putting it where the practice field currently is, I really like the area that is, and is going to be, around our new home.

due to covid its still not a normal week. the only opened Legion to tailgaters on Friday morning. normally its the entire week before. a lot of people take vacation and spend the entire week there. that did not happen this year. next year will be a better gauge.

how can anyone who spends any time on Blazertalk be shocked about UAB fans complaining about anything no matter how minute?

I went to the Magic City Classic yesterday. Obviously it had more crowds than a UAB (LF era) game despite the cold weather.

The weather killed attendance yesterday. That 28k was the least attended Classic in over 35 years. Outside of the stadium was booming all day but the cold and rain killed the crowd.

I agree it's only a matter of time before the game is relocated. Legion Field looked bad yesterday. So much noticeable rust and green pain bleeding through the gray. The Ole Gray Lady is definitely on borrowed time.

The City of B'ham is only responsible for upkeep on one large stadium -- Legion Field. Protective Stadium belongs to the BJCC and is their responsibility for upkeep. I am glad UAB has such a new and suitable site for its football program in the coming decades, and its leasing agreement probably covers additional improvements and upkeep. Legion Field is no longer UAB's problem unless it is needed to attract a major P5 program for a H&H contract in the future.

It should be remembered that B'ham tried to replace Legion Field over two decades ago, but was rebuffed by the resistance of votes from its suburbs. Now the city is shopping the stadium around to host various feature games to enjoy the facility as does the Magic City Classic.BTW, What is the current status of the "B'ham Bowl Game" which had to be cancelled last year?

...man, THAT is a Freudian slip if I've ever seen one... There were some great days for the Green at Legion, but also LOTS of "Green Pain" days (before the Clark Era, of course...)
