if we just up the budget by 50% and took out all the main hitter and replaced those with programs we complained about playing for the last 3 years. That today with a 50% budget increase those numbers will now all of a sudden increase to cover that extra cost. And do that in a time when more and more people are not spending their money on what we are selling.
I would fire that person on the spot. Does anyone else see it that way and try to set aside your fandom when answering that question? As a businessman this does not make any sense to me...
no matter the names going to the AAC
Some presidents are going to answering some hard questions in 5 years
This is one of the biggest problems the decision makers are facing. They have convinced themselves of this for a few years, and now have to add some of these teams to help stop the bleeding.
TV money and NCAA credits are real. Marshall is in a spread out conference that pays it about 2.2 million with the worst media deal in D1. If we can trade this spread out conference for another spread out conference with the 6th best media deal, potential for multiple NCAA bids, and an extra 3+ million in conference revenue, it’s a complete no brainer.
If you were using "a" brain you would see this media deal is going to tank just as CUSA's media deal did exactly that once those schools that espn/fox was actually paying for...said bye bye.
If you believe that will still be the case in 3 years you need to find someone with a brain to explain it to you. No school in this new AAC is a sure NCAA Bid school...
not one
Memphis has not been to the NCAA in the last 7 seasons
Wichita State 1 out of the last 3 and as a play in school
SMU twice in 30 years
Tulsa twice in the last 18 years
South Florida 1 in 30 years
Temple twice since joining the AAC 8 years
Tulane ZERO in the last 26 years
ECU Twice in 56 years 1992 the last
UAB twice the last 15 years
Marshall ONCE in the last 34 years
UNCC ZERO in the last 17 years
UTSA twice in last 20 years last time 11
NCAA units are gone once the current ones run out. One of the worse basketball conferences around once Memphis is gone. Wichita State has not shown they can keep winning without Greg Marshall or his recruits
