I think the model's angle makes it look like a large picnic pavilion. There are a few other shots of it from the side which makes the height and scale look more accurate.

Marshall seriously has one of the nicest IPFs in the country and I say that only to say this....in Georgia, you guys don't need anything more than that. It's perfectly fine and serves the purpose. I actually wish our IPF was only allowed to be used in the off-season because I think it has made our players soft, but that's just me.

Louisiana has a nice indoor facility as well. Both links are tied into the same building. I agree…this will serve GS just fine.

I like how it’s multipurpose with the courts as well. I hope that’s what we do when we get around to building one. Cram as much in there as possible.

Since the OP was created to stir the pot, turnabout is fair play...

I think in terms player facilities (meaning not the stadium or press box or luxury suites) we have as good a facilities as anyone in the league. Two full-length practice fields with a half-length one, regulation-sized covered practice field, and the Football Operations Center. 04-cheers

I think it’s nice, but it’s oddly coincidental that the Monday Night Football game at SoFi Stadium had a lightning delay tonight because of its open ends.

I'm not sure this will allow for practice to continue in a lightning storm.

I wouldn't think so. There's a high-school in my region that has a pretty nice indoor practice facility. I was hoping GS would do a little more.

The building will be grounded so that it will be perfectly safe to practice in during lightning storms. The structure as you see it would be considered phase 1 - phase 2 would be actually closing in the walls. That would come later, but the more urgent need is getting the facility up and running.

The building will also have turnkey tailgate spots located around the perimeter, so it will generate some revenue on game days once complete.

Sorry man but I see nothing about your facility that makes it look any better than ours.

It’s going to be built on a portion of our tailgating lot adjacent to the stadium with the intention of it being used on game days as a central hub for tailgating events, Gameday concerts, pep rallies, etc. so it’s pavilion design is both cost-effective and useful.

South Alabama and UAB both have open air practice facilities that look really nice:

And since this thread was meant to be a dig by App fans, at least our facility will be able to house a full-length field instead of half of one.

Flat ground is hard to come by in Boone and every inch has to be utilized. The current one backs up to the softball field and is only about 5 feet from the outfield fence. We were one of the very few programs in FCS to have an indoor facility and for our climate a short field was better than nothing. A new one is currently in the planning stages and will go up once the new softball stadium is completed on the 105 property. Probably a year from now.

We were going to have a super nice IPF, but then local politics between medical groups (IPF was going to be part of a doctoral sports medicine cooperative between WKU, UK, and a Med Center Health) scuttled the whole thing. Now we are probably going to do a pavilion style instead.

What could have been:
https://www.wku.edu/news/articles/index....cleid=4320

Rumors are our press box, covered practice facility, and some minor sports renovations will be announced before the end of this football season. RFPs were put out in 2019 I think.

Maybe if App practiced in the elements they'd be more used to it.

Pull up a picture of Shawn Clarke and you'll have a more apt photograph, considering he actually played in Boone.

Or here is a clip from the playoff against WIU:

Somehow there is no full game on YouTube.
