Not hardly. AD's are currently meeting. They aren't talking about office decor.

SBC ADs are meeting? I assume in NOLA?

I'll save you the time. He says he has contacts on the Marshall BOG.

So it's hearsay...

Great. No sources. At least by his definition of what a source is for others.

I'm fairly plugged in, and I highly doubt he's heard Marshall to the AAC from a member of the BOG. Frankly, I'd have heart it. If he has, that's significant, but things are EXTREMELY quiet at Marshall about conference affiliation.

I actually think Marshall is a better compromise candidate for the AAC than some others, but there's nothing concrete to indicate that we are as in play there as UAB.

Fan of coming to the Belt when and if the AAC tells us no. I can see the Belt being a better long-term landing spot due to stability, but the AAC's media exposure is too much to pass up in the short run.

Sure, there are three or four candidates that are good long-term adds for the streaming model. Then you have a few adds who really do nothing but lower the perception of the AAC as a whole. The additional cash will negate the need for pay games and their records will look decent leading to a continuation of the AAC perception.

I heard we were going to decorate the league headquarters in black and gold

Okay, are you poking fun at AppDiesel for complaining about Gill, or are you alluding to a certain black and gold school in the southern part of the Magnolia state coming to join the Funbelt?

Depends on what definition of a bird is

(UTSA) Roadrunner - Definitely a bird by all definitions. Not black and gold.

(North Texas) Mean Green - A color in honor of Steelers great Mean Joe Green. However, the helmet & logo is a falcon or eagle or something. Arguably a bird by some definitions. Not black and gold.

(Rice) Owls - Definitely a bird by all definitions. Not black and gold.

(Southern Miss) Eagles - Definitely a bird by all definitions. Black and gold.

(UAB) Blazers - Could be a bird if you you're imaginative since it has wings. Gold, but not black.

(FAU) Owls - See Rice.

That's pretty much it for any candidate who could remotely be interpreted as a bird.

You're as clear as mud, chiefsfan. 03-nutkick03-lmfao

Lol. I was making a joke without realizing someone might think I was seriously leaking USM

Chiefsfan- You made a comment a couple of days ago regarding the fact that ULM would make a satisfactory/good travel partner for you in the future. Obviously, the implication was that LR would no longer be in the Sun Belt at some point. Do you believe that is the likely outcome of all this? Will the league do the "nudging" or do you think UTA and/or LR will chose to leave on their own? Will it depend if the league adds to 2 vs. 4 football members? Do you have any sources in Little Rock? I really haven't talked to anyone "in the know" in quite a while. I am very happy being in the Belt, but I guess change is always somewhat exciting.

My name is not chiefsfan, but I think the league has no business kicking out a member, so I don't think it will happen quite like that. There will be an "encouragement," but no forced disassociation.

The trouble is, where do the schools go? OVC would be terrible. Maybe Southland? WAC for UTA? Summit for either? It would be hard because I think the SB is the best choice of league for either school.

My guess is either Summit or SLC for LR and probably the WAC for UTA.

Not our fault that We’re the only one who appears to have a competent commissioner in all of this

Who would have expected those words to be used to describe the SBC commissioner 6 months ago when we were all wondering if Gill was a real person since no one had ever seen him.

Just curious, do we spell “competent commissioner” E-S-P-N?

Little Rock is in violation of Sun Belt bylaws that require sponsoring a minimum number of league sports. If the Sun Belt wants Little Rock out, they’d have the grounds to push them out. The league wouldn’t want that publicity necessarily so it’d be a nudge for them to leave I’m sure. But if push came to shove…

We’re not kicking anyone out. However I think it’s been made very clear the SBC is going to focus on football moving forward

RE: So do we find anything out this week?
Here is what you need to know about Little Rock. The conference established membership standards requiring members to play 15 league sports.

Denver only played ten. UNO only had I think 8 post-Katrina (BOP probably remembers), LR played 15 all is good. .

Members were given five years to comply (June 30, 2013).

https://csnbbs.com/thread-299306-post-33...pid3319145

Denver and UNO left

Realignment leaves LR one sport short as Sun Belt drops swimming and diving as a sport dropping LR to 14 Sun Belt sports so they are granted a waiver.

Then come April 2013 LR operating under the waiver drops women’s tennis and is now at 13.

LR makes a handy trip when you go to AState and very accessible from ULM. No one is getting too worked up about it. Until March 2018. LR announces they are adding wrestling. Being two below the standard and then adding a new sport that the Sun Belt doesn’t sponsor changes the mood. Now there is less inclination to keep the waiver in place.

I think all along the feeling here was if you wanna come, come on you’d be welcome. And if you don’t, we’ll that’s ok too.

I get that...and for the record, if we join then I will be all in on the Sun Belt. I can see the reasons as to why we would join and the reasons that the SBC would be a better long term fit for us. I'm not "dead set against" the SBC. I'm actually open to it. I just don't think it's any better than our current situation in terms of all sports. For the record, I don't think it's worse either. If we were to join the SBC then I think it would for the long term which isn't a bad thing either.

Having said all of that, I would be surprised if we joined the SBC and I would be absolutely shocked if we joined without at least one of WKU/ODU/FAU.

I didn't realize it was 15 Sun Belt sports. So wrestling hurts more than helps. It was a strange add, other than a local booster put up the money for the wrestling facility and probably start-up costs. Not sure how it survives with a "handful" of fans showing up, although it has been a little hard to assess with the ongoing pandemic. Maybe it has a chance to grow with it being the only DI wrestling program in the State, but I wouldn't bet my money on it.

Why, from a Marshall perspective, would we leave CUSA East to join the SBC?
