Should the SBC rebrand?
If we lose Little Rock and UTA and add a maximum of 4 new schools should the Sun Belt consider a new identity?
If Georgia State were to remain and we added the rumored 4 (JMU, Marshall, ODU, Southern Miss) or if Georgia State were to exit and we filled that open spot with a UTSA, assuming they don't get an AAC invite, and then the other 4 is it time to choose a name that reflects a new identity? (This isn't a realignment thread about who joins though, just stating 2 options listed prominently on the board)
I know conferences wouldn't usually do that but would the AAC be viewed different if they kept the Big East name rather than rebranding as the AAC? Many of them seem to think so. The Big East name is definitely more recognizable.
I like the name Sun Belt, the abbreviation SBC, and our new logo a lot. I just wonder if a new name considering how much membership has changed over the years would make the conference not feel so low on the totem pole? Winning has slowly increased perception but would that new name help?

My opinion is no.
No need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

What would the new conference name be?

RE: Should the SBC rebrand?
No. Sun Belt does not mean what is used to mean. That changed after some folks went to CUSA.
The Sun Belt brand is stronger now. The new logo and branding of "SBC" has added to it.

RE: Should the SBC rebrand?
No!!!!!! The Sun Belt name is just now getting recognized. Why would we change it and have to start over. A new name would make us look like a new conference joining FBS. I say keep building the brand that's gotten us where we are.

RE: Should the SBC rebrand?
YES! YES! YES! YES!
The Sunbelt is now one of the best G5 leagues. But the name is holding us back. Sunbelt has been know for new FBS team starting up but its not that anymore!
It should have happen when App and Ga southern joined the league.
We have a American Conference lets be the "National Conference"

RE: Should the SBC rebrand?
No. Perception of the SBC is vastly improved over what it was even 5 years ago. The conference is finally getting some respect and recognition.
Why on earth would you throw that out and start all over again with a new name and identity no one would have heard of . . .
. . . it’s literally like 1 step forward 2 steps back.
When perception changes in your favor, that’s not the time to change your identity.

I wouldn't do "National"-That's implying we have representation throughout the country and the league is (and should continue to be regionalize)
We could always partner with the SEC and become their developmental league, SEC 2 (Ala Arenafootball/AF2)

RE: Should the SBC rebrand?
I couldn't care less if the name matches the geography.
My question is if there is a stigma around the name we need to try to get away from. I'm not sure.

Absolutely not. The Sun Belt needs to continue building the brand, not start a new one!

Logo change perhaps. Minor rebrand, but not changing league name

I agree with everyone saying no, by the way. Was just curious what everyone else thought.

Didn't we just switch to this ugly logo?

The 2013 rebrand was
I prefer the old school 2001 logo better than the 2013. 2020 > both though.

2020 logo, once I saw it on uniforms and fields, became my favorite Sun Belt logo. I liked the wheel as it's a good design, but it isn't a logo for an athletic conference.
Look at CUSA's ancient logo. They've changed it once since 1995. Looks like a early 2000s art student's work.
