I want to be able to watch this game and say that the coaches were able to make adjustments. I would be angry with the defensive staff if they didn’t do anything to fix what the issues are on the back end.

Michigan might run for 400 yards. Hammock should just load the box. If they beat you with the pass it will be quick And painless. Better than just getting beat up run after run without a stop.
How will it be quick? It would be quick and quick and quick again. But not painless. Prevent the big play has to be the goal if your goal is to win. If your goal is to "not get beat up," you can always just get out of the way on every play. That's not what this team does, or ever will. So, buckle up Big. It may not be pretty, but if we gave up a quick pass for a TD it was NOT executing the game plan. Of that, I am sure. If we give them a long field and can hold them under 7 yards a carry-- make them take 10-12 plays to score, we can hope for a fumble or some other stroke of luck along the way. If they are scoring on three plays, then our offense better be holding the ball a loooooong time each time we get it. I am sure coach Hammock will do everything possible to be in this game.

Yeah I think this does a better job conveying what I was trying to. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure NIU is going to be geared up for the run, but I also don’t think they’re going to put 9 guys in the box. They’ll be willing to give up some yards on the ground and try not to give up big plays. I do think it’ll be a similar game plan to the Tech game.

If you bring the safeties down close to the line you run the risk of getting beat deep. That’s what I meant by quick and painless. If you play off the receivers with safeties back it will be death by a thousand short passes so not quick and painless. If the goal to winning is never to get beat deep you’d just play prevent all the time. No one throws deep 20xs a game. Teams loaded the box against Childers every game/every play. Press coverage and safeties right behind LBs.

If you play standard 4-3 with no safety help those linemen(avg is 320 across the line) and their starting RB (220) are going to get 6 yards on every run. They’ll have no need to pass.

You know what’s funny about that(GT game), their fans were crying that if they just ran the ball most of the time they’d have won by 30.

The B10N is tied into FOX Sports app. Not sure if that helps.

I'm assuming by "Hulu" you don't mean "Hulu+Live" because the Live version of it carries the B1G Network.

If you don't have any kind of live broadcast system (streaming/cable/satellite) then I don't think you can get it. There might be a way to subscribe via the Fox Sports app (if that still exists) which might give access to FS1, FS2 and the B1G and whatnot but I'm not sure if that's an option.

Obviously, if it is, those things typically offer a free 7 days so you can subscribe, get the free "week" and then unsubscribe when the game is over.

He also tweaked something and came out for the last handful of plays. Didn't look bad but who knows? Not me.

I know this is a sh!t attitude, but this is a “get outta there healthy” game to me. You just gave up 50pts to a team that didn’t crack 20 vs an FCS squad. I just don’t think learning on the job vs a top 5 rushing offense is a good plan. I think we are currently 120th vs the run. It won’t be long drives if we play soft. It will be 5-7 runs and they’re in the red zone.

Better than 1 pass and they're in the endzone.

Is it weird that I’m suggesting we play the run very hard vs a team who’s #4 in the country in rushing and #119 in passing? 4 vs 119. NIU is #46 vs pass and #121 vs rush. Is there a common sense thing I’m missing here? We arent gonna stop their run. They have a super experienced O-line like Wyoming but bigger. You give up a big pass and you kind just shrug your shoulder as a D. You let them run you over all game you end up slumping your shoulders as a D.

No, not weird and I'm not going to argue. Just had flashbacks to that Ohio State game in 2005 when we couldn't cover Ted Ginn (or anybody) for nothing and it was like 28-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

Good thing their best WR is now out for the season
