He's a good one. I was disappointed with our OL and run game the 1st half. Not opening many holes for Waylee. Seemed like 2nd half we had more success blocking and maybe we're finally wearing Wyoming down on defense.

This kid really moves. He's got some room to grow, but once he figures other things out, maybe we will see him on Sundays?

Let’s cool down on the Sunday thing…..if he gets that in his head it’s off to the transfer portal and we’ll see him elsewhere on Saturday.

Coach Hammock's NFL experience/contacts might help him get a look in the draft. That said, I don't know how impactful that would or would not be when the time comes.
I do know that Waylee and the Oline bought into what coach Hammock was selling as they are noticeably bigger and stronger this season. Sadly that is not the case yet for the Dline. Perhaps that takes longer?

Waylee has been great. I do worry about his work load though.

Man he’s 19. I am less concerned than I would be. But this isn’t the NFL.

He reminds a lot of us of another NIU W named back. Wolfe didn't fare too well on Sundays. But if Waylee is anything like Wolfe in college, I think we will all be cool.

Also, he is only 180 lbs right now. At that size guys have to not only be completely elite in terms of speed, but also quickness and elusiveness. He really isn't. Plus, he would have to prove that he could be a legit receiving threat out of the backfield, and maybe it is just that he doesn't get that opportunity in this offense, but he hasn't shown that at all.

RE: Harrison Waylee # 3 in the country in total rushing yards!
The transfer portal is a real PITA! Waylee is # 3 in the country in total rushing yards in the season and we have to worry about him transferring (presumably to get more exposure at a P5 school). Then we have to worry about players not getting enough (or any) playing time transferring because he thinks he should be starting or getting more playing time. You know what, I’m not going to worry about it. If a player wants to be a Huskie, then he will stay; if not, he will enter the transfer portal.
I do miss the days when we could enjoy a Huskie having great success and we could just enjoy it. Since Waylee is a RB, I’m thinking about Turner, Wolfe and Spann as recent great NIU RBs before the transfer portal days.
And we all know the grass is often not greener on the other side. If you look at the NIU transfer portal for 2021 you can see all the questions marks – landed nowhere. https://247sports.com/college/northern-i...nkey=24073
Dennis Robinson landed at Texas State. He has zero receptions so far this year. Since Maine is coming to DeKalb on the 25th Jordan Rowell comes to mind. He has zero carries this year and in 2019 played in 5 games on special teams. https://goblackbears.com/sports/football...owell/7828
You can go back and look at each year. Someday these young men will get it that the grass is very often not greener somewhere else.
There isn’t a thing we can do about it so there is no need to fret over it. I’m going to enjoy Waylee’s (and others) success and not worry about players entering the transfer portal.

Man. Some of you guys turn a positive post into a negative right away. The kid is three games in with some success, and you already inserted him into the portal . Even if he does, we have a bunch of other talented backs who want the opportunity. Pump the brakes. Geez! Happy for Waylee. He’s come a long way. Hope he plays big against Michigan.

What previous Huskie does Waylee remind you of? To me he is Leshon Johnson’s smaller brother.

Imagine if it didn't take a whole half to make adjustments. He'd be leading the nation...

I was thinking about him vs Wolfe the other day. There is a good likelihood he is the featured back for 5 years. Impressive to think even still it would be difficult to surpass Wolfe’s all time rushing totals, but in the realm of possibility.
