a look at their OOC football schedules for the last four years gives me pause on not adding them. Only Kent St has anything comparable. I think my opinion is changing.

My preference is still a southern division.

guessing in this day and age of CFB conferences restructuring, only $$$$$ Athletic$$$$ and/or TV $$$$$ are driving any of these decisions

Those are given out on Halloween. Not saying it's not an accomplishment but it is kind of self-defining. Not the original research mandates of most PhDs.

Academic association should be a consideration, snobby though it may sound. The conference is either there to be a support group or its a stop-over for those needing sports income.

As I posted last, I do like the additions to the conference OOC these two schools will bring. I'd rather they brought more schools, enough to created a Mid American presence in the Mid South. I would LOVE a Freedom Trail Conference. MAC is well positioned to be part of something like that.

Conference USA is pushing hard to find an eighth member that would satisfy NCAA requirements to stay in the FBS, sources told CBS Sports. Sources indicate it is "probable" the embattled league will lose both Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee to the MAC, perhaps as early as this week, leaving Conference USA with only three existing members.

Guess that means either we stay at current alignment (which makes the most sense) or convince WKU and an FCS (maybe EKU since the WAC is getting chewed up in this?) to join up

about what I said. This would be worth it if there were a souther division of FBS, near FBS and HBCUs and I still think the idea of a Freedom Trail Conference has talking points that MAC schools are geographically positioned for. Two divisions having in common a tight geographical association and history.

Nothing against MTSU or WKU, but, we don't need to expand our conference.

I guess that Makes sense. I wonder what happened to stop the wku coming to the MAC. And what was the other team eastern Tennessee or whatever. To me they seemed like they were close enough to join the MAC.

UT to CUSA, if there was ever a chance of that happening, it's gone now since CUSA lost 9 schools to other conferences. I don't see how Sam Houston State adds anything to them.

At one time, the best of CUSA and the best of the MAC may have worked !!
Possibly North/South divisions...
