Akron Loses Key Player
Akron’s 3rd leading Scorer, Bryan Trimble, Jr. (10ppg.) was recently put on a “leave of absence” by Coach John Groce which sounded more like he was suspended from the team. He was leading the team in 3-point field goals with 61, which included a game against BG where he hit 10. If you remember, Trimble hit 3 late three point shots against Toledo a few weeks ago that got the game down to 4 points before Toledo steadied the ship and pulled away again for the victory. While you would think the loss of Trimble would be significant, since he left the team a week ago, the Zips have won 2 straight games after losing 3 games in a row.

Hate to see that.

Could be addition by subtraction. EMU and BG, not the strongest teams in the league to beat however. I looked at box scores, he did help them against Kent, they lost anyhow. Didn't contribute much in the other losses.

Castenida lookes to be next man up, has plenty of playing time. Freshman Clark out of Euclid looks like their next man up in the guard spot and he's been getting plenty of minutes through the season.

Akron Loses Key Player
Seems Akron is in a better place without him. They were losing to the worst of the worst until he left now they’re back on track.

Maybe Ohio will slip to 4th.. Thatd be a great semi matchup opposed to UB or Kent.

Not sure how OU did so well for so long. Not competitive against top teams lately.

Toledo wins out and they are guaranteed the #1 Seed. Ohio is basically two games back because of Toledo holding the tiebreaker against them. If Toledo loses at Buffalo and Kent St wins out, they will hold the tiebreaker over both Toledo and Ohio. While Buffalo has a home game against Toledo and a road game at Kent to end their season, they are at a disadvantage in a tiebreaker scenario because they will only play 19 league games vs. 20 by the rest of the contenders. I guess we just have to wait to see how things play out as who would have thought Akron would beat Ohio U on the road tonight with almost 9,000 fans in attendance!
