Very simple. He wants to be a Division I head coach and despite the buzz he’s generated no one else is handing their program over to a small state high school coach.

He applied for the head coach job at AState multiple times and was turned down by two different ADs. He has been offered several FCS and FBS assistant positions even G5 OC positions but it’s always been head coach or bust.

I have little positive regard for such an attitude.
Mack Brown and Nick Saban weren’t too good to step away from head coach positions to become assistants. Malzahn and Freeze went from dominating high school coaches to college assistants before becoming head coaches at the college level. But he was too good to do that so he he’s coaching glorified Division III football.

I completely understand his position. There’s no way he could work under a head coach and have the autonomy to run “his” offense.

I know I’ve got a string of take it with a grain of salt posts regarding Kelly.

I like the guy, seems nice, and he’s developed two good QB’s for AState. I mostly agree with his philosophy.

But there is a segment of Arkansas media deeming him a football god that long ago wore out my last nerve.

The QB just sit a record their first game with 10TDs. I didn't put it together that was this coach until now.

Weird that App played the "Blue Hose" not too long ago.
