Is parking lot I circled open for tailgating? If so, is it a general admission lot? I don't see it listed on the official Marshall gameday parking map.

Looking for somewhere close to tailgate. 04-cheers

That's the old ACF lot. It's cheap but there's no tailgating.

There's usually tailgating on a first-come/first-serve basis at the fast food restaurants along 5th Ave. A lot of people tailgate at the 6th Ave. fire station (donation), behind the engineering building on 3rd Ave., or at the day care behind Sheetz on 5th Ave. If you drive around, you should be able to find something.

From the photo, where will your new baseball stadium be built?

The new baseball facility will be part of the red circled parking lot plus the full block of adjacent land south (includes the building the bottom right edge of the red circle goes over).

It's been many years since I've lived in Huntington, so pardon my question if it's already been answered. The long row of buildings (closer to the river) and across from the softball field (to the right), is that part of the cleanup as well, and if so will that be for parking or another type of campus building?

I'm so excited that this is finally becoming reality, they were taking about a new campus baseball field when I live there in the early 90's.

Geographically it's an ancient River Delta.

clt suggests the marshal fans were upset by the rolling hills of our lush campus, and tossed the cans in the pristine creek out of exhaustion.

RE: Questions for Marshall fans...
I posted this over on Herdfans, but thought I should here as well.

Herd fans! As promised, here are my thoughts on my first visit to Huntington this past weekend.

Marshall fans are everything people say they are. Yall were the nicest, most hospitable, most genuinely friendly folks Ive ever been around. From the moment we arrived in Huntington, we had people go out of their way to welcome us.. be it at the hotel, Kroger, HOF Cafe, and the several other bars/restaurants we hit during the weekend. Everyone asked me 'is everybody being good to you??' They would follow that by letting me know where I could find them on Saturday before the game. It was great, and I never felt on the defensive or like some sort of abuse was coming.

We found a spot on the street between Chipotle and Sheetz, and were immediately welcomed by the Marshall fans nearby, as well as Marshall gameday staff in their golf carts. (Being able to tailgate next to a Sheetz is amazing, by the way.. clean bathrooms, A/C, and if you run out of beer? well, there ya go. We dont have that in Greenville.)

We found Go1970Herd and his crew a couple hours in, and I dont think we left until kickoff. What a great group of folks. Great food, really good conversation, and lots of beer and shots pre-game.

I love the Joan. Such a cool stadium, and you could feel the history. Ive seen it so many times on TV, but this was my first time there. The concourse area reminded me a lot of Dowdy-Ficklen, and we had great seats in 103. The Herd fans were loud, knowledgeable, and friendly, even during the game. When yall got up big, there was no trash talking. When we pulled off the miracle comeback, we were thanked for coming and given recommendations on where to go after the game. No cussing, no threats.. just thanks.

First-class all the way around. Thank you for a great weekend, and I hope yall kick Apps ass on Thursday. I may even dig up a green shirt for it.

Morgantown is a **** Hole!

Don't know why the WVU folks are like they are. Ground water contamination? Genetic defects from generations of waaaaaay to much lead in their shine? Can't hold their booze? Just born under a bad moon or all of the above? I mean Geez Louise. Those folks just ain't happy unless they're being obtuse, obnoxious *** hats to anyone that's not a WVU fan. When the fanbases from Marshall, Pitt, Miami, ECU, VT, the Cuse and more ALL have the exact same thing to say about a game day experience in Morgantown then ya just have to believe it's true and WTF is going on with those folks.

Most of what you see in Morgantown is from New Jersey rejects. A bunch of Jersey boy ass hats who couldn't get in to school anywhere and bring their ******* type of culture with them to Morgantown.

RE: Questions for Marshall fans...
Just wanted to say that I passed through Huntington this past Friday on my way to Morgantown (and then State College). I really wish that going to the game would work out but the only way to do 2 games on Saturday was VT @ WVU and then Auburn @ Penn State.

Anyway, stopped for lunch at Frostop and then went around the campus and downtown. I have to say that Huntington was much more impressive than I thought it would be. The downtown in particular was awesome. And the shake I got at Frostop was one of the best ever.

That's all, just wanted to piggy back off this thread.

Thanks for the kind words. Our downtown is booming right now. Usually events going on every weekend and music at 1/2 places each night.
It’s not a bad town. We have our warts of course but I’ve been to much worse places.
