Eh, I know what you mean. But as it irks me when people try to assign achievements to conferences when a team was not in a conference - like an ACC fan trying to claim Miami's 1991 football title for the ACC, or a Big East fan trying to claim UConn's 2014 hoops title for the Big East - I always push back and say "no" in these situations, LOL.

Not bad for a conference written off as not a real power conference by many.

That raises an interesting question. Is the PAC 6-0 or 5-0? The VCU game was considered a "no-contest". So does the PAC "earn" a unit for that game when the money gets doled out?

I would say the PAC is 5-0, because a "no contest" is not a win. But I also expect the PAC to get the unit for Oregon advancing to the round of 32. The unit has to go to someone, and who else but Oregon, as they are in that unit-spot.

Go Pac-12!!!

I’m sure some ACC fanboys and others are going nuts seeing the Conference of Champions being undefeated.

I don't know why the unit has to go to some one. You could just divide the money pool by one fewer unit and increase the amount of each unit actually earned. Especially in a pandemic year, I think the "rules" can be tweaked when it makes sense to do so. Out of curiosity, has there ever been a walkover in previous NCAA tournaments, or is this the first?

Was tired last night and didn't stay up. Just looking at the stats, Texas was sloppy with the ball and lazy on the boards, despite being taller. ACU had 85 shots vs. 60, 12 FTs vs. 11, 18 offensive rebounds vs. 5 and 11 TOs vs. 23. ACU got an incredible gift on that last phantom foul call with 2 seconds left.

But you can't go 6 minutes in the 2nd half without a point and expect to win. From 19:14 to 9:38, Texas only scored 4 points. Shaka should have shaked up the lineup to get some offense. Can't blame anybody but yourselves for that.

It was the turnovers. Those 23 Texas turnovers allowed ACU to get 27 more shot attempts. The only reason the game was still close, with that disparity in shot attempts, is that ACU shot only 30%.

The last foul call was iffy but there was an equally iffy call that gave the Horns two FTs with about a minute left.

They'll probably give both Oregon and VCU a unit for that game.

for the 1st rd game yes. But now the Pac 12 will get a unit for the 2nd rd game.

Yep. Effective July 1. They as well as SHSU, SFA, and Lamar wanted to move to a better hoops league. Well, it looks like the Wildcats are putting the rest of the WAC (and the other Texas Four schools) on notice with their win over Texas.

A league with Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, ACU, and SFA isn't a horrible basketball conference. They may not earn an at-large bid most years, but it'll be a dogfight for the one bid. Similar in some respects to Conference USA, with programs that have won NCAA tournament games in the recent past (North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Marshall), but is still a one-bid league.

As for this year, I presume ACU's tournament units stay with the Southland as part of the exit agreement.

I agree. (And I knew the units would stay with the Southland. I just wanted to say that the Texas Four leaving for basketball reasons even though they're football schools -- for the most part anyway -- is probably what's best for them.)
