How's Juwan Howard doing? Tim Miles the former Nebraska coach is also some one I would consider! Listen all everyone on this board wants is someone who can bring back the glory days of the 80's-90's! The AD has his own coaches in mind, people he has connections with.

I think there may well be a lot of variability depending on the job. E.g., for a first level research analyst the posting might be open longer. May use the posting for more than one position. Time may not be of the essence (unless because of some emergency caused by say Covid).

For a MBB or CFB, there is only one position and time is of the essence.

One advantage to hiring a D1 assistant is that he may have the connections to lure D1 transfers immediately. That would help for next two years while he (hopefully) fills the roster with HS kids. No reason why EMU can't build a roster with kids from within a 300 mile radius. When is the last time a kid from the west coast stuck around for 3-4 years?
